Chapter 20
Home Sweet Home...or Not
Rosalie POV
I spent another few hours gleaming out at the ocean before starting my long trip home.
I took my time occasionally sprinting, but mostly keeping a steady human pace.
It took me about 3 or 4 days to get back, it was a nice journey…just me, myself, and the beautiful scenery.
I thought nothing about Emmett…until I saw a large figure jumping out of the window to my home. I was still about 200 meters from home but sped up to investigate.
Not 2 seconds later I reached the yard and was surprised to Emmett standing freely right in front of me. He looked relieved and sad…
“I am so sorry, Rosalie. I need you to know I never meant to do anything to hurt you or scare you in anyway…I just want you to know that if you want me to leave I will, if that is what it takes for you to be happy.” He was so sincere and I swore I saw a tear on the rim of his eye, though I had something close to a river spilling down my stone face.
He never moved toward me or made any sudden movements. Again he made me feel so protected and loved, I knew he truly cared.
I felt absolutely horrible…I made this beautiful man feel like he severely damaged me in some sort of way.
“I’m sorry, Emmett.” Was all I said before stepping up to him and wrapping my small arms around him, pressing my soaked face into his chest.
He was resilient at first but then enveloped me in his muscular arms.
I continued sobbing into his chest, I moved my head to the side and rested it below his shoulder, he then rested his cheek on the top of my head.
At that moment everything was perfect…all the bad memories and deep scars were now beginning to close.
Emmett POV
I was really confused…at one moment I was sitting in a dark room hoping Rosalie would return soon…then I saw a figure coming thru the trees who happened to be Rose…I jumped out and apologized profusely to her…then she was sobbing into my chest.
It all happened to quickly it took me a minute to realize what happened.
Though it turns out I was not dreaming, we had our arms wrapped around each other. She was crying next to my shoulder and I set my head on hers.
What seemed like hours later was only about 2 minutes; she pulled away and took a few steps back.
“I’m sorry, that was so…” she muffled still crying but I cut her off.
‘No, don’t be. I just want to make sure you are okay…” I was worried that everything just got 5 times worse after what just happened.
“Honestly Emmett, I don’t really know what okay feels like anymore.” She sobbed. “I’m sorry for saving you then acting like I hate you then leaving…I am a terrible pers…vampire and I want you to know it is not your fault and its not you…” she was being brave, letting everything out and I had to go be the jerk I am and cut her off, again.
“It’s not you it’s me, right? I am not mad at you, Rosalie. What is it going to take for you to finally get that?” I felt awful after saying that but this was starting to get ridiculous!
“You don’t get it!” she yelled, her anger was building up, too.
I knew there was something that happened to her...but I was too much of a ass to notice it.
“Then explain it to me!” I yelled back stepping up to her, I knew I could do something I seriously regreted at any second.
“I...I can’t…” she was quiet now, and sighed in defeat looking down, terrified.
At this time everyone was outside, Esme had her arms around a frozen Rosalie, who was staring at me and looked miserable. Carlisle and Edward were pushing me away from her. Everyone was angry with me and I knew it…damn newborn temper…
I said a silent ‘I’m sorry…’ to Rosalie before sprinting away…far, far, away…
