End of Part 79:

Edward's POV:

Bella pushed the leaves aside, and I stood beside her as I peered down at the unfamiliar girl kneeling there. Bella gasped; the small child looked up.

The first thing I noticed was how her huge, sad, chocolate brown eyes were exactly the same as Bella's had been when she was human.

Suddenly, for one second, I felt a vague recognition... but it dissappeared as soon as it had came, so I could no longer remember what I remembered about her.

Part 80:

Edward's POV:

There was a moment of silence as Bella and the small girl gazed at each other. I felt I was missing something.

The girl's thoughts were full of joy and hope. She couldn't put her feelings into words, though, so I had no idea what was making her so excited.

Bella's voice broke the charged silence. She spoke so quietly, her shock muting her voice.

"Nessie?"

I growned inwardly. She thought this child was Renesmee. Oh, no.

"Nessie, is it you?" Bella continued.

My eyes flickered toward the girl, prepared for shock, maybe even fear to be showing in her eyes. She was human after all. Even if she didn't smell quite normal for a human...

But the girl replied, and she didn't look - or sound - scared. In fact, she sounded... joyfull? No. That wasn't possible... was it?

"Yes," She breathed. "Yes, yes! Yes, I am!"

What? She was... Renesmee? What? I was confused, shocked, and more than a little scared.

Bella grabbed the girl - I couldn't believe she was actually Renesmee, the fictional character Bella had dreamed up - and swung her up into her arms, spinning the child around.

"Oh, Nessie!" Bella cried. "Nessie, I'm so glad to see you!"

This lasted for a few minutes, while I tried to understand what was going on. I had just come to the practically impossible conclusion that Renesmee was real; we had all forgotten her, as Bella had claimed, when Bella turned to look at me.

She looked nervous, almost scared. I looked from... Renesmee to Bella, and - not wanted to upset the girl or Bella - tried to smile. I doubted it was convincing. My mystification probably showed on my face.

Bella sighed, then I watched as she frowned in concentration.

Suddenly, I was inside her head.

You don't remember... She thought sadly. Do you think you ever will?

I forced a laugh, worried about scaring the small girl, Nessie.

I wrapped my arm gently around Bella, wanting to comfort her.

"Give me time, love." I soothed. "I'm sure it will pass."

Oh, Renesmee thought. They're talking about me.

Then she reached her hand out toward me.

"Maybe this'll help." She said as she pressed her warm palm against my neck.

Seeing what she showed me wasn't that unusual to me. But the way that she showed me, by pressing her hand to my neck, was strange.

I didn't expect it, so I gasped unwillingly.

She showed me what seemed to be her memories. Memories of her with us, her with Bella, her with... Jacob. I felt a fury at that. Especially when she was alone with Jacob.

And it all came flooding back, forcing the anger away. I remembered how Bella had almost died for this child, how Jacob had imprinted on her, how everyone who saw Nessie loved her, cared for her. And I remembered how the Volturi had come for her. I remembered everything.

Despite how horrible some of these memories were, I felt an overwhelming joy. Renesmee was my daughter. And now she was back here, safe, with Bella and I. Our family was complete once again.
