Flame and his pups rushed through the under growth. Their pelts brushed against nearby shrubs. "Sakura!" The white wolf yipped. The small she-pup turned her dark gaze toward Flame. "Yes?" She piped. "Do you think you can get up this tree?" He gestured to a large, reddish tree. Its mighty branches seemed to go on forever. "Of course I can!" She confidently stated as she raced to the trunk of the tree. Her claws scrabbled up the tree as if she was a squirrel. "See?" She breathed. Her flanks heaved with the effort to breath. "Not so hard.."
"Halo," Flame called as a white and blue pup raced up to Flames paws. "Hi!" He piped as he slipped under his fathers paws. Flame gave a howl of amusement as Halo bobbed back out of his legs. "Yes, father?" He yipped.
"Can you climb this tree like your sister has done?" He affectionately barked.
"What do you think I am, a squirrel?" He argued.
"No, I think you need to TRY." He answered in a low voice.
"Ok!" Halo squealed happily. (what a change of attitude!)
With tail bushed up, the small pup began racing toward the tall tree. His small muscles bunched up in an attempt to jump, but instead of a jump, he froze in mid-air and began glowing blue. "Halo!" Flame worriedly called. He began racing toward where his pup lay. But as he approached it was as if the world kept repeating. The world around him seemed to be running away. "Halo!!!" he screeched. What was happening? Suddenly Halo dropped to the ground, and everything was back to normal. "Halo! are you ok?"
"I just fell, why are you so worried?"
"You had been floating! What happened?"
"Flame! I just fell! Thats it; really." Had he forgotten everything that had happened? Was it only visible to him?
As Halo heaved himself up, flame noticed that his back was red and bruised. Then he realized, he never saw it. It was like when he was a pup. His mother had been so worried because he had been burned. Now he had the power of fire. Could this be what is happening? "Halo, are you sure nothing happened?" He questioned, again.
"Of course." He worriedly replied. His legs shaking.
"Ok. Anyway.. lets... lets go continue leaving. We are not safe yet." He growled. With a puzzled look, Halo glanced up. "Why is Sakura up there?" He yipped loudly. "Follow me, Sakura, Halo." He ordered. "Were not done yet."
