I feel like picks with negative opinions built into the question are pointless because they're just asking for hate and arguments. A lot of people jump right into them though and it's always kinda bothered me. Why spread bad vibes like that????

They just seem stupid to me. Why focus on negatives which will just insult and hurt people?

I guess it depends on HOW it's being handled. It is mostly an opening haters/trolls find to bash on something they dislike. It is asking for opinions, but the stupid people will only pick to insult things. They're not my favorite type of picks, but I can't really do anything about it. :/

I don't mind them, but I'd definitely rather see 'who's prettier' than 'who's uglier'. Like people should be aloud to ask what they want but they should also be prepared for some negative feedback. Personally, even if I don't like two characters in a poll I make; I'd still ask 'who's prettier' as opposed to 'who's uglier'. As you guys said; I don't see the point when one can just as easily make make the positive equivalent or not make a poll with the hated characters at all.
I also guess it depends on the amount as well. I can name one user (though I get along with the dude) who makes these way to often. Like if a person makes like one or two of said picks then whatever. But if it's the same user making like 10 of 'em, it really just makes me wonder why the person is so hateful and bitter. Also makes me wonder if the person is seeking a fight.

Ultimately, the pick is just asking for opinions - which is what picks are for. But they're worded in a negative way. I'm not offended by the wording personally, but it does feel like they're encouraging fellow fans to be vicious.

If the pick consists of a few answers (as in, more than two) and you specifically want to know which one people dislike the most, you could even replace "which of the following do you hate the most" with "which of the following do you like the least". It's the same question, just worded in a friendlier tone.

Pretty much why I can tolerate them to a degree.

I dislike them. It's always a breeding ground for trolls and haters but this is also why I tolerate them.

Something like "which is your least favourite?" is a valid question, but something like "who's stupider/uglier?" just sounds mean.
