(It is August 2nd 2012, Emma and Kowalski have been going out for 1 year and a half, and Emma, Rico and Skipper's younger brother Tom, was transferred to the zoo 1 month ago. Emma has also started watching an Adult show called True Blood, which is about vampires.)
Emma sat at the the table, eating her breakfast. Kowalski was sitting next to her, his flipper on her shoulder. Emma smiled up at him as she ate. Meanwhile Skipper, Private and Rico were playing Stomp The Wombat. Emma watched in amusement, at the cards stuck on their heads. Tom was watching football (soccer) on the Tv, which annoyed Emma.
"Hey Tom, y'know, we were watching something." Emma told him, eyeing up the remote.
"So?" Tom answered back, snappishly. Emma rolled her eyes and grabbed the remote. "Hey!" Tom protested looking angry.
"I was up first, and I was watching something, and then you turned it over when I went toilet so don't give me that!" Emma argued, as she changed the channel to Criminal Minds. Tom muttered something under his breath, and stormed off to his bunk. Emma growled quietly, and started watching Tv. Why was her little brother such a pain in the neck? Her older brothers were much nicer and hardly ever argued with her. Well they were more mature, Tom was 2 years younger than Emma, and he was still a kid. He may be a complete pain, but he was still her brother and she loved him. She looked over at him. He had brown eyes, and a flat head, like Skipper ad Rico, and he had very short hair feathers on his head, like Rico's but they were all over his head. He was about Private's height.
"Hey, just ignore him Em." Kowalski told her comfortingly.
"Yeah, that's what I usually do." Emma replied, finishing her breakfast. Suddenly, she heard a little buzzing sound from her bag. She took out her phone, and it was ringing. The caller ID said it was her mum. When Tom got transferred to the zoo, she was able to get in touch with her parents again, which delighted her, since she hadn't heard from them since she left Hoboken. Now they were living at the Bronx Zoo, and had a happy life. Emma answered the call. "Hey mum." She said, beaming cheerfully.
"Hey sweetie, I've got some news for you." Her mum said.
"What is it?" Emma asked curiously.
"Your half brother and half sister are going to visit you at your zoo." Her mum told her.
"Wow, that's amazing, I haven't seen them in 6 years." Emma remarked, feeling excited. "When are they coming?"
"In two days time." Her mum answered. "Oh I've gotta go, its feeding time here, talk to you later, and tell your brothers I said hello." She said before hanging up. Emma looked at the phone in surprise. That had to be the quickest call she had ever got from her mum.
"Who are coming sis?" Skipper asked, looking up from his cards.
"Chris and Sam." She answered excitedly.
"eally?" (Really?) Rico asked, looking astonished. Rico and Skipper hadn't seen them in 11 years. Chris and Sam, were their older brother and sisters from their dad's previous marriage. Chris was the oldest and Sam was 3 years younger.
"How old are they now?" Skipper wondered.
"I think Chris should be 21 and Sam should be 18." Emma answered after a few seconds of thinking.
"So what are they like?" Private asked.
"Well Chris is smart, but he's a bit lazy, and Sam, isn't as smart and she's lazy, but she's sweet." Emma replied, a ball of excitement sitting in her stomach. She was closer to Sam, and they both used to stay up until about 2am every night just talking. Emma smiled at this memory and she put her phone back in her bag.
"They sound nice." Kowalski remarked, stroking Emma's hair. Emma blushed and a shiver went down her spine. Even after all this time, she still got happy chills when Kowalski did something like that.
"Yeah, they are nice." Emma confirmed. She looked over at Skipper. "Hey what are we doing in training today?" She asked.
"You'l have to wait ans see sis." Skipper replied mysteriously.
"Do I have to do training aswell?" Tom asked, looking annoyed.
"Tom, I get you don't want to do it, which is why you're only learning basic training, like attacking and self defence, don't worry, your training is nearly complete away, you've just got a few more sessions, then you don't have to do it anymore." Emma told him. Tom brightened at this.
"How many sessions left?" He asked, looking cheerful.
"2 I think." Skipper answered.
"Awesome!" Tom cheered, looking gleeful. Skipper put a flipper to his forehead, and he looked back at his cards. A few minutes later Marlene came running in.
"Hey Marlene, what's up?" Emma asked.
"There a crate in the loading bay, I think it's got a new transfer in!" Marlene busted out excitedly, panting for air.
"Lets investigate." Skipper decided, climbing the ladder, and taking the card off his head. "Oh, it was an ace." He remarked, dropping it on the floor, and ordering the team to follow him. The 6 penguins slid to the loading bay, followed by Marlene and saw a small crate in the middle of it. They walked over to it, taking bets on what it might be.
"Latapus!" (Platypus!) Rico exclaimed hopefully.
"Hmmm, Otter maybe?" Emma thought aloud.
"Ooh I hope so." Marlene commented, looking excited.
"It might be a penguin." Private suggested, and Tom nodded his head at this.
"Or a Chameleon?" Kowalski added.
"Ugh, it might be another lemur." Skipper groaned.
"Well lets find out." Emma said. Rico hacked up a crowbar, and passed it to her. She opened the crate, and inside was a short, big eyed penguin.
