Chapter Twelve
"One Small Step (Part One)"
Kara Treadstone and Molly Walker - Vareor Barrus Cab Co., New York
"So that little baby is Mohinder's older sister?" Kara asked as Molly tried to explain what had happened.
"He said someone must have used time-travel to bring her here" Molly explained, but seeing Kara's sceptical expression added "it's real, trust me." She got the impression that Kara still thought they were all headcases - she hadn't seen anyone apart from Monica use an ability yet and she wasn't convinced.
"So you think I can... travel through time or something?" Kara asked, half laughing.
"Mohinder thinks you have dreams that come true because-" Molly cut off, she was about to say 'because of your mother', but Kara's eyes had welled up and she knew it was still painful for her. "He'll get over it you know... you're dad." Molly comforted her.
They both turned to see Tamrin enter the room hesitantly. "...Sorry" she said tentatively "But I think I know how you feel... I only found out about my ability a short time ago"
Maya, Jessica and Micah - Somewhere outside New York
"Stop here." Jessica said suddenly, grabbing Maya's arm. Maya pulled the cab up beside a cash machine and Jessica grabbed Micah's hand and pulled him towards it. "I'm gonna need some new clothes... and a haircut, wait here" she instructed Maya, who responded with an exasperated sigh.
Eamon Tullidge - Newark, New Jersey
Having decided to wait for Samson to come back, Eamon was sat in his house, laughing at what he was going to say when he saw his house wrecked and full of corpses.
He looked around when suddenly something caught his eye - a rolled up sheet of paper sticking out of a broken stuffed badger. He pulled it out to find two paintings which caused his jaw to drop... along with the destroyed badger.
Kara, Molly and Tamrin - Vareor Barrus Cab Co., New York
"Do you think we should be doing this?" Molly asked Tamrin as they watched Kara trying to fall asleep through the window of a holding cell deep under the cab company.
"We'll be safe, don't worry, these walls are designed specifically to contain people with dangerous abilities and I'm sure hers isn't." Tamrin encouraged her.
"So, what's you're ability anyway?" Molly asked.
"This." she replied, lifted her left hand as Molly mirrored the movement perfectly with her own.
Suddenly a heavy reinforced door slammed down in front of the already secure door of Kara's holding cell as well as every other as a series of wailing alarms sounded throughout the building.
"What's going on!?" Kara screamed, jumping up and trying the door as Molly and Tamrin looked around shocked.
"We've got to get out! They've found us, come on!" Monica yelled, running towards them.
Upstairs, Mohinder was running through a corridor, Shanti in his arms. He rounded a corner to find himself face to face with two soldiers holding guns, but without stopping he barged into the nearest with his shoulder, sending him into the wall with a 'crunch' and knocking the other off his feet just long enough for him to round the next corner.
"No!" he shouted as he felt his body pulsate with electricty. He'd been hit with a taser and as he felt his arms and legs growing heavy and lose control, he sank to his knees and let himself fall backwards, so that he didn't drop his sister. He heard screams and knew nothing more.
"Don't hurt them, they're just children" Monica said stepping in front of Tamrin and Molly as a group of about 3 soldiers advanced on them with guns.
Moving behind Monica, Tamrin focused on the soldier furthest and used her ability to clamp his mouth shut and take aim...
A series of gunshots and the two soldiers lay on the floor motionless. "What did you do!?" Monica shouted as Molly screamed and Kara screamed.
"Down there!" they heard as at least 12 more soldier's footsteps thundered towards them. "Aim to kill." The same one shouted, opening fire.

Mohinder stoped the cab to a quick halt and pulled over to the nearst stop.
"Elle?!", Mohinder said in amazment.
The woman spoke up and said, "I don't think this is 7th avenue."
Elle looked up suprised and asked "Mohinder? Since when do you drive cabs?"
Mohinder looked at both in astonisment. "How are you even alive?!" Mohinder asked Elle
The woman spoke up again, "That would be beacuse of me."
Mohinder still suprised asked, "And who exactly are you? And how do you know Elle? And how did you-"
She cut him off and said "My name is Samantha Monroe and I'll tell you our story if you take us some where safe."
Mohinder asked "Safe? What are you running away from?"
Samantha said "I'll explain on the way but we need to go some where now or else they'll find us."
Mohinder said "I take you to my lab. I'm sure you'll be fine, but you have some explaining to do."
Samantha just nodded and said "Well it all started with my husband, Adam."
"Elle?!", Mohinder said in amazment.
The woman spoke up and said, "I don't think this is 7th avenue."
Elle looked up suprised and asked "Mohinder? Since when do you drive cabs?"
Mohinder looked at both in astonisment. "How are you even alive?!" Mohinder asked Elle
The woman spoke up again, "That would be beacuse of me."
Mohinder still suprised asked, "And who exactly are you? And how do you know Elle? And how did you-"
She cut him off and said "My name is Samantha Monroe and I'll tell you our story if you take us some where safe."
Mohinder asked "Safe? What are you running away from?"

Ugh, Mohinder thought another day stuck driving angry new york people, and to make this day even worse it he had the night shift. So, this is the only time of the day the freaks come out.
He pulled over to a slender woman with a gloomy expression. The woman opened the door it looked like she was with someone whos silhouette seemed familiar to him.
"Where to my friend?", Mohinder asked in a friendly voice
"7th avenue please." The slender woman aswered flatly while staring at the floor of the car.
Then her companion entered the car. He looked over to the two sitting in the back the woman was still looking at the floor the other woman was blond and looking out the window watching the streets fly by. Suddenly the memories of working with Primatec flooded through his head. The blond was Elle.
