mistake...
The words that started it all. I know some fans might disallow it, but for me, it was the turning point where they had the realization that their friendship blossomed into something more. But a question still remains: was their relationship founded from a mere mistake of one drunken night? Or was that night destined to happen between these two people?
Let's go back a few episodes ago...
Most episodes I watched way before the London escapade showed Chandler and Monica in situations that gave us a hint that there was something more to come. For example, during Ben's birth, where Chandler proposes to Monica that if they are not married by the time they are 40, they would get married. Another example would be that of the Montauk episode, where Chandler keeps insisting why he would become a good boyfriend to Monica, and as they have shown us at the end, he did show her why, and we all know what that was! Let's also not forget them being caught in sweeter positions compared to the other friends (i.e. sitting together with Monica almost on Chandler's lap, Chandler's arm draped around Monica, sitting so closely together while they were on the couch, etc.). I don't know if its just me, but i do notice it a lot.
Then comes the London episode, with Monica drunk and them sleeping together. What if Monica, subconsciously, got herself drunk for her superficial conscience to realize that Chandler is the one for her? What if Chandler, also subconsciously, was also there for Monica that night to make him realize that she is the one for him? Was it destiny working in mysterious ways?
In more ways than one, the two of them probably harbored deep-seated feelings for each other, they just did not realize it soon enough. It took one drunken night for both of them to realize what they were missing all along.
