One day, she managed to uncover a pink gemstone in a nearby cave--and that eventually lead to her interest in researching more about it. Ultimately discovering that there are in fact more different kinds of crystals out there somewhere. Shortly after discovering the gemstone, she encounters the same feral fox that Tajuu met years later.
She had unknowingly found Shuryou's source of power, and planned to study it and replicate it for her own personal gain.
Unfortunately, something went wrong during an experiment with the gemstone. An accident occurred, which caused Airi's DNA to be altered--giving her the ability to change into any fox breed of her choice.
Now her goal is to get ahold of Tajuu's power source--the Kitsune Prism--and use that to hopefully make her way to Feralyon, the home planet of the ferals.
