Everyone must have their own version of Miaka. She was drawn having in cosideration the pure color white. I don't know if I can say she's honest and pure...or maybe I wanted to draw an angelical girl. That's why she tries hard to do her best in every situation she faces but she's like a little girl who does everything wrong. She doesn't have a very strong confidence in herself and I'm sure you sometimes had complained about what she does, but have in mind that nobody's perfect in this world. She gets depressed most of the times and escapes from reality, but she tries. When you think "Why do you do this or that, Miaka?!" she always do her best to come back to the right track. Is due to the love she have for Tamahome and her friendship with Yui. Even though it was a misunderstanding everyhing Yui did to Miaka...If I were Miaka, I'd be so pissed at her and I'd stopped to be her friend (laughs). But a friend is someone who you love no matter how good or bad he is, and Miaka does love Yui. A choice between love and friendship is not a problem for Miaka. She has a heart that reaches all.

...One is based off an ancient Chinese creation myth about a goddess (Nu Kwa)who had, in the course of a divine war with rival deities damaged one of the "pillars" holding up the sky, causing water to pour from it onto the land and the horizon to become
lopsided. In order to stabalized things, she rebuilt the square-like "pillar" using colored stones that shone in the night sky,and placed four guardians in each corner of it,in order to keep it from collapsing.Another explanation concentrates more on the "time" application of the Four Gods formation. The moon's orbit was used by the ancient Chinese to measure the passing of seasons, each season represented by a guardian in the sky. It was believed that the moon passed one of the constellations ("seishuku")every few days, and that it took the passing of all 28 constellations to complete a full orbit of the moon, and therefore all the seasons. Each season was thus represented by the four guardians deities mentioned before.
