Recently I've seen a lot of posts on the Harry Potter club insulting/criticizing Ginny. I thought I'd write an article here in response.
1. She's a slut
How exactly is she a slut? She's had 3 boyfriends over the course of the series, more than most other characters, true. But Hermione had 3 love interests too, and no one is calling her a slut! 2 of Ginny's relationships lasted about a year, she dated Harry for a few weeks before breaking up due to circumstances and they eventually married after getting back together. She cleanly broke up with each previous boyfriend before moving on to the next. She never left one just to be with another, either. She isn't a slut!
2. She's ugly
This one I don't get either. The books clearly describe her as pretty.
3. She's a Mary Sue
Ok, I'll admit, she is described as a powerful witch who's a good fighter/good at curses. And she does get the hero. But is that enough to make her a Mary Sue? Maybe I just don't generally recognise Mary Sues outside of obvious fanfiction ones. I don't see her as a Mary Sue. She's also going to be described flatteringly, later on, because the books are from Harry's POV.
4. Its her fault Bellatrix died
This might be the most stupid Ginny-hating reason. Just because Molly began fighting Bellatrix after she tried to kill Ginny, doesn't make it Ginny's fault. And how else would you expect Molly to react?!!
