Chapter 1
Nina's breath caught in her throat as she saw Fabian and Joy walk in holding hands, she was ready to bolt out of the classroom and lock herself in her room to cry.
But she wouldn't cry. She couldn't.
She looked to the side and saw Eddie clenching his hands as Jerome and Patricia entered the class holding hands too.
The thought that Eddie was going through the same thing helped calm her nerves down a bit, and she took a deep breath and stared at the board.
She started doodling in her notebook until she felt a tap on her shoulder. She looked up to the warm eyes of Fabian and felt a surge of hope.
“Yes?” She asked politely.
“Your in Joy’s seat.” Fabian said turning to smile at Joy, who was positively glowing.
Nina felt her cheeks burn as she mumbled an apology and got up from the seat. Amber taking one look of Nina’s embarrassed face pushed Alfie out of the chaur next to her saying “Sorry boo” and pulled Nina into it.
Nina smiled gratefully as Amber continued to glare at the sickening couple, glad she still had a loyal friend by her side.
“Just give it a week,” Amber said knowingly. “Something good will happen for the both of you.”
Nina nodded, not believing a word she said, she had already spent weeks taking long routes to class, or getting up really early or late for school, or even spending her whole day outside to avoid Fabian and Joy’s path.
It was embarrassing enough being dumped, now she had the lovebirds to deal with. Plus Patricia’s now dating Jerome after dumping Eddie for him, everyone was shocked, but Patricia didn’t care.
Nina felt that only Eddie could understand this kind of pain, and looking as his eyes burned holes into the happy couples holding hands, she knew she was right.
