6:43pm
Kowalski had just finished his work for the day. He shut down his computer, turned the lights off in his office, & was now on the elevator, on his way up to meet his new boss. His heart was pounding fiercely & his palms were starting to become sweaty. The elevator stopped, opened, & Kowalski stepped out slowly, allowing the elevator doors to shut behind him. He took a deep breath & started walking when he reached the door to his employers’ quarters. He paused for a moment, took a deep breath, slowly turned the knob, & cautiously walked in. The office chair positioned behind the desk was turned around, facing the wall. Kowalski shut the door behind him, & walked up behind the desk. The chair remained motionless in its’ current position. Kowalski cleared his throat. “You…wanted to s-see me?”
The chair turned around slowly. The second Kowalski saw his face, he stopped breathing. His eyes widened. His heart seemed to skip a beat, but kept on pounding. He looked straight into the eyes of his employer, who stared right back into his. He just sat there with an evil grin on his face. Kowalski’s suspicions were confirmed. He was staring into the eyes of his #1 enemy…Dr. Blowhole.
“Well, well, well. It seems my presence has left you speechless, Kowalski.” Blowhole said, with that same evil grin still on his face. “Well, aren’t you going to say anything?” Kowalski thought for a brief moment. “What do you want, Blowhole?” He said with an irritated tone to his voice. “That’s ‘Doctor’ to you. I am your boss now, Kowalski.” He chuckled an evil chuckle. “I don’t have to take orders from you.” Kowalski stood up a little straighter. He was smarter than this egomaniac. “Oh, but you do, Kowalski. Unless you’d want to be fired…”
Kowalski didn't know what to say. This was the best job he’d ever had. This company was very strict. If you got fired…you were never rehired. Under any circumstances. Kowalski just stared back at him with a straight face. He said slowly, “What’s your game here Blowhole?” Blowhole stood up & held his gaze on Kowalski’s eyes. “Doctor. One more slip of the tongue, you’re fired. Anyway, my game, as you so quaintly put it, is that you are now my employee. And there’s nothing you can do about it without being fired.” He started laughing, a hard, & long laugh. “Why don’t you just fire me then?” Kowalski asked with suspicion. “Because…I like to watch you suffer. And watching you suffer me as your new boss just tickles me.” Blowhole answered.
Kowalski was starting to get angry. He started to leave, but Blowhole blocked his path. He said, “I know everything that goes on in this building, Kowalski. So if I hear so much as a pen drop without my say so, you’re fired. Understand?” Kowalski nodded slowly, with anger written all over his face. He could just kill him now without remorse. He left the room without another word. He could still hear Blowhole laughing behind him as he made his way to the elevators.
