It was my worst nightmare. I was cleaning up a pair of shorts when I realized that my beloved iPod Touch was in the pocket.

Quickly, I pulled the iPod out of the sink. When I hit the sleep button, the screen flickered before turning completely off.

I searched the internet, looking for a solution to my problem. That's when I found link on how to save my device.

After thoroughly drying it off, I put the iPod in a bag of rice, as I was instructed to in the article. I was worried, but fairly optimistic because in the comments there were many success stories.

After waiting (and panicking) for forty eight hours (which I did to be thorough rather than the twenty four that the article recommended) I pulled my iPod out. After making a quick run over with a hair dryer on low hear with it, I plugged it into its charger, and found no sign of life from it.
I went through Apple's website, even making an appointment at the Genius Bar for the next day to see if maybe they could do something about it. The website instructed that if you press the home button and plug it into your computer at the same time, the iPod would work.

This is one time when I was glad that voice recognition has a tendency not to work. I all the sudden heard the voice saying "No music is playing" coming from my iPod. Sure enough, iTunes had recognized my iPod. But I still saw no life from the screen.

I then decided that my iPod needed restoring. I didn't think it would work, but figured it was worth a shot. Turns out that my instinct was correct. After it restored the software, the Touch screen came to life. I have a tendency to leave the screen brightness down, and it was down too low on the iPod.

I left it in until the battery was full and my memory had restored. This is important: I opted to set it up as a new iPod. If I hadn't, the screen would have returned to its original state and I would be stuck. But it didn't.

Now my iPod works like a charm. I've had to get over my like of leaving the screen on low, since it flickers if I put it down too low. My case and screen protector did their jobs in protecting the iPod from getting too damaged.

So if you end up in my predicament, don't panic. Turn off your iPod, throw it in the rice, and let time go by. You'll save it this way.
