Leopardstar overlooked the Clan. It has been three moons since her omen, and there has been no news whatsoever from SpiritClan. She decided to put it out of her mind. No need to fret over something that makes no sense.
Since those three moons, though, she had made a decision. She should tell the rest of the Clan. It is important news, and the Clan members have a right to know. But that wasn't the only reason she had called her Clan to gather.
"Let all cats old enough to hunt their own prey join beneath the Speakledge for a Clan meeting!" she called. She saw Mistyflower bring the kits forward. When the whole Clan had gathered, she began. "Today we celebrate two kits sixth moon, and now their apprenticeship. Woodtail, you were an excellent apprentice. You were taught loyalty, and perfection by Ivyflower, and I hope you pass these qualities on to your apprentice. Siltkit, from this moment forward, you shall be known as Siltpaw. Woodtail will be your mentor."
There were cheers from the Clan as Woodtail and Siltpaw touched noses and moved to the side of the clearing.
"Dawnfrost. I was your mentor. I taught you the skills of pride and loyalty, and cleverness. I hope you will pass these skills on to your apprentice. Ferretkit, from this moment forward, you shall be called Ferretpaw. Dawnfrost will be your mentor."
More cheers erupted from the Clan as Dawnfrost and Ferretpaw touched noses and padded away together.
"And Mistyflower. Fernpool taught you kindness and quick thinking. I pray that you will teach these same skills to your apprentice, Honeypaw."
The already named apprentice flicked her tail shyly as she was acknowledged. The gathered cats began to disperse. Leopardstar held up her tail to signal that she was not done.
"This is not the only reason I have gathered you today, my cats. Three moons ago I received a dream from Redsoul, the leader before me, who told me an omen. 'One shall rise, one will fall. One can see, the other blind. When you look you see two, when I look I see one next to another[--Redsoul].' I was scared for my Clan for a while, and I had an emergency meeting with my medicine cat and deputy. We couldn't decide what it meant. We have made a decision to tell you, not out of fear, but out of kindness. We do not think that we have much to worry about. But there might be more. If any of you hears anything, please tell me right away."
