Chapter 21

We woke to the smell of fresh farm bacon. I sat up and looked to Lexi. She smirked at me 'You look like shit'. I grinned to her 'Speak for your self' We took hands and walked into the kitchen. Jessie was standing hardly tall enough to be near a cooker but she was frying bacon and had bread in the stove. I sat at the small bench. I tried to tame my hair and sighed to it. 'God i wish my hair was like blonde or coal black' I tutted. Jessie looked over to me. I have a few lotions filled with syrums...' She offered and i nodded to this with a small smile of thanks. I stepped into her small bathroom. 'Black or Blonde?' She asked in a mousy and i felt bad for storming out the earlier day. 'Uhm black?' I shrugged and she nodded lifting a bottle. I sat down so she could get at my hair. I felt the liquid being emptied on my head. She rubbed it in generously and i stole glances to the side of black and the droplets on the floor. 'You 'ave to let it sit for a while M'am' she smiled slightly. And i smiled to her 'Thanks' She came in the following hour with books and we chatted about her. 'So how long have you been a Wiccan?' I asked her. She sucked air through her teeth as if it was a horrible question. 'How did you know?' She replied her eyes wide. 'Well my...Godric. Once explained to me about the Wiccan people.' I bowed my head at the memory of him. 'Wow! Well my mother was a Wiccan but she did not inherit the gift as my grandmother did, so i got all her books when she died and i have been doing from i was about 9' She beamed at me. 'How long have you been...immortal?' she asked in a polite tone. I shrugged rather rudely. 'I'm really not sure...I'm older than Lexi but I'm not sure by how many years, my father held me with him in his coven for a while, I'm not sure for how long...' I shuddered at the pain of what he did to me even in my immortal state. 'Hmm...Can i help you find out?' she asked her eyes brightened and i shrugged 'Sure' She jumped up and lifted a pot and rinsed the black liquid out of my hair. I dried it by heating the air, something Godric taught me. Jessie-Mae brushed it softly and i smiled to my jet black hair in her small mirror. 'Its wonderful! Thank you!' I smiled hugging her to my side. 'Lets go and see what age you are!' She bounced off downstairs. I walked down and Lexi was out, shopping or hunting.
I sat on the floor with Jessie. She had a bit of paper and a rock. I looked to it and frowned. 'Are you going to stone me?' I asked and she started to giggle 'No! You must hold it when it glows green' I nodded to this and she started to scribble. 'OK Year turned?' She asked i gave her a look that said 'I'm so not impressed by your lack of common sense' She started to giggle 'Oh thats why we are here' she giggled blushing. She held the rock, well it was more like a chunk of polished black marble. She started to mumble in a low tone, i heard her but couldn't make the words out. The stone soon began to glow a bright blinding white. The white turned to green and she placed it firmly in my hand. I expected it to be warm, but it was ice cold. I squeezed it hard. Jessie slapped it from my hand and i dropped it. It landed on the paper. I scattered around leaving markings i would have assumed a cat had done, but Jessie took everything down. When the rock stilled she smiled at me. '212 Years Evie' she smiled. I laughed out loud. 'Your kidding. Right?' my voice trembled slightly. 'Why has nothing changed?' I asked with a worried tone. 'Well what would like to have changed...?' She questioned. I shrugged 'I don't know this isn't real I'm not 212 years old! I feel like...22 years old give or take...' I sighed and realized the time spent with my father i was not allowed out without him, i never saw daylight so i would not have know if a day passed. The time with Godric with a lot better but it didn't not last long enough for me. 'Lexi's brother must be dead then...she must be at least 100 years now, no mortal can live to that' I shrugged and she nodded ' Actually Lexi is only a couple of years about...30 years. Her brother may well be alive' I scowled then understanding 'I spent most of my immortal life being my fathers sex toy!' I spat the words as rage bubbled inside me.
