They met in an undercover assignment and found they had a lot in common, bourbon,coffee, and much much more. Their personality was very similar. Both enjoyed winning and both would fight to win. We all know Gibbs liked redheads and that's what Jen was. They were close to start since well they were agents but it very quickly became more then that. It started with dinners then became a sexual relationship. Usually they did it when they were trapped to pass time but they were in a relationship so sometimes it was for pleasure or taking their mind off their lives being in danger.
After the mission Gibbs invited jenny back to DC with him where he worked at NCIS for special agent mike franks. Jenny surprisingly, out of the blue ended their relationship by a dear John letter which was hard for her to write and hard for him to read according to a shared conversation in model behavior. Gibbs worked in NCIS for years. Franks quit and he became boss of the team. Years later director Tom murrow quit and jenny took place of him. They both remembered paris sleeping together and Gibbs admited to missing her which made her look very sad for ending the relationship. At that time they were after Ari who could've killed Jen but Gibbs protected her, telling her not to go to meeting and ducking her down when someone was shooting instead of worrying about himself. Jenny was one of the only people who believed him when he said Ari was the killer. They eventually caught Ari with the help of ziva David. Gibbs was later in a bomb blast in which Jen almost cried while he screamed for Shannon and Kelly back.
in season 4 jenny started revolving around the frog who killed her father. Gibbs worried about her a lot during this time period. At the end agent Gibbs retired without even saying goodbye to her which made jenny very upset. Then officer ziva David got herself in a little bit of trouble and asked for Gibbs to help her. Ziva being a daughter to Gibbs made it his duty to help her. He and Jen shared an important part of their past being trapped in Serbia in a farmhouse with nothing better to do then have... Gibbs cuts her off by sating he doesn't remember. Gibbs heads back after helping ziva and leaves her a picture of Serbia indicating he remembered everything in which made her smile.
Gibbs comes back and jenny never actually filed the report that says he was leaving. Later after solving the case jenny talks him in and out of staying by saying she's afraid if he stays he might get into another coma and might not come out. At the end of her little speech she says "when someone is as good as something as you are you just don't quit" which might of been when he decided to stay. Jenny supposedly dies which he cannot open up her body bag. He handles her death pretty well which is pretty suspicious. we never know what'll happen next but this is what happed so far. <3
