Joseph Morgan as Klaus
Joseph Morgan Talks Klaus, Fans & The Original Family With StarryMag

Q: You teased to TVGuide about “Vampire Diaries” fans getting more storyline coming soon for the Originals, and coming to see how they became vampires. Why do you think it is important for people to keep reflecting on the past for Klaus and his storyline instead of focusing on the future.

A: To be honest with you I wouldn’t say that we don’t focus on the future as well. Here's the the thing, Klaus is a thousand years old, as are the rest of the Originals. So there is such a wealth of past history to take advantage of in terms of great stories with all of their histories, it’s a rich tapestry, so I think it would be crazy not to go there and learn all about his past. Also, it’s all of what makes him who he is today. But I don’t feel like the future is being neglected so much. I find a lot of the time in the scripts I’m talking about what I’m going to do once I get, once I create my hybrids, I’m going to leave this town, or once I do this, I’m going to do that. Joseph Morgan as Klaus in The Vampire Diaries
The Vampire Diaries: Joseph Morgan -
Keeping Klaus Bad

Joseph Morgan on the tricky distinction between making Klaus a well-rounded character without softening him.

Talked about for quite a while before we met him, Klaus has proven to be a formidable enemy on The Vampire Diaries – a nearly indestructible, 1000 year old vampire/werewolf hybrid who uses those around him as pawns, as he himself becomes increasingly more powerful.

IGN: You've mentioned how you really hope your character doesn't get softened - that he pretty much stays the bad guy.

Morgan: Yeah, I think we're all on the same page, the writers and the creators of the show. We certainly want to bring in a more human side to him. I feel like the character's got to evolve, and as the show moves on we've got to see more layers to him, more levels and more of his insecurities coming out and things [like that]. But I think to have him hanging out at the Mystic Grill with Jeremy and Matt, and it's "All is forgiven!", that's a little bit of a stretch for me. [Laughs] And I think it would become less interesting. I feel like even with...

INTERVIEW: Joseph Morgan (Klaus)
from The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries is back tonight, after what seemed like a very long week without it. When last we left our favorite residents of Mystic Falls, a certain original made his triumphant return (love you, Elijah!) What does this mean for Klaus? What about the others? I recently had the chance to chat with Joseph Morgan, who plays Klaus, one of my favorite supernatural beings. We talked about what’s coming up, why people root for Klaus, and he even asked me to establish the official Caroline/Klaus ‘shipper name. From searching, the consensus seems to be Carlaus (or Caralaus), so I’m going to go with that one. Edit: The common consensus seems to be Klaroline. You win, fans, you win. Whatever the name may be, I am excited about the possibility, even if they have a somewhat crazy history.

After the last episode, I believe I might have yelled “hell yes!” at my television. I’m very excited Elijah is back. How is that going to change things?
