End of Part 43
"Let's go hunt." Edward said as he jumped up and offered me his hand. As I took it I grabbed a handful of snow and when he helped me up I stuffed the snow down the back of his shirt.
He wiggled and screamed as the snow slid down his skin, true that it wasn't much colder then we were but it was still cool.
"Boys." Esme said.
"You said it was ok as long as we are outside." I said, smiling at her.
"Oh, yes..I did...ok but not when I'm around. I don't like snow." She said.
"Me either." Rosalie said as she came and snuggled into my side.
I leaned down and put my lips just below her ear, my lips moving against her skin. "I'll keep you warm." I purred.
"Oh for the love of all that's good!!" Edward yelled. "Let's go hunting..please."
I kissed her ear and stood up, smiling at everyone. "Yes, let's go hunting." I said.
Edward took off running into the woods, his legs carrying him much faster than any of us. Carlisle and Esme ran after him, leaving Rosalie and I alone. I bent down and kissed her softly, then took her hand and began running into the woods.
Part 44
Rosalie and I ran into the woods, not far behind the others. We ran for a few minutes, following their paths. When we came out of the trees we found them all standing in the middle of a snow covered clearing. Edward was busy looking around, taking everything in. He blinked as if he was committing everything to his memory. He turned and nodded at me before returning to the scenery around us.
Esme and Carlisle were talking quietly to each other, their hands interlaced, their eye's gazing into each others as if they were the only ones in the world.
I smiled down at Rosalie to see her rising her face up, directly into the sun. The light danced off her skin, causing tiny rainbows of light to dance across the snow. I was awestruck by her beauty, she looked more like an angel now then she had when she saved me, and it took my breath away.
I had to look away, I had to look around. I needed to focus on something other than her before I let myself go.
I looked around, to the East was a large mountain range. The peaks were so high that they were lost in the clouds that clung to them. I watched as small tremors shook snow off some of the lower peaks, sending it crashing down into the ground below.
To the east was what I assumed was a small lake. It was frozen solid currently, the light bouncing off as if it were a mirror. It reflected everything back as if returning it to where it belonged.
To the north was an entirely open area that was flanked by the woods. I don't how long I stood there amazed by nature, but I heard someone call my name a few times before I turned back and faced everyone.
"Emmett?" Carlisle said again. "Are you alright son?"
"Yes sir. I have never seen anything so...amazing." I said quietly as I looked around again.
Edward laughed quietly. I turned and glared at him, smiling at the same time.
"Well it's the second most amazing thing I've ever seen." I said as I kissed Rosalie softly on the lips.
Edward shook his head. "Please." He muttered beneath his breath.
Rosalie looked at him, the look not the most friendly. Then she looked at Esme and nodded, as if they were having a secret conversation.
"Let's." Esme said as she reached out to Rosalie.
Rose took her hand, letting go of mine and laughed as the two of them took off into the woods.
I stood there, watching them go. I was..well...I was hurt. Why did she just run off, what was going on?
"They went to hunt together, they thought it would be 'easier.'" Edward said, answering my silent thoughts again.
"Easier?" I asked.
"Yes, Easier." Edward said as he turned to face Carlisle and I. "They think some male bonding might be good for all of us. Well that and they need to talk, apparently Esme finds your relationship quite interesting." Edward said, clarifying things.
"She's not the only one." Carlisle said as he began walking to the woods opposite of where Rosalie and Esme entered, Edward following behind him.
I stood in the clearing, looking from one side to the other. I really wanted to be with Rosalie. What if something happened? What if she needed me?
"Oh believe me. She can take care of herself." Edward said.
"But." I said as I was interrupted.
"Emmett, they are far from being as helpless as they both appear." Carlisle said as he smiled.
"Come on, let's see what we can find. Tanya and Irina were telling me about some of the animals out here." Carlisle said as he started walking into the woods.
"Emmett, it was a bear that hurt you correct?" Edward said.
"Yes." I said as I watched the far woods.
"They have bears much, much, much more aggressive then the bear you found. They're larger too." Edward said, knowing this would get my attention.
I thought about it for a second before my thirst roared to life. I knew that I needed to hunt, I needed to be stronger...especially if Rosalie needed my help.
"She won't though." Edward said softly. "We'll show you after we hunt."
I nodded and began to follow them into the woods, looking back one more time before we entered our side of the forest.
Carlisle was in the lead until we began running. Edward was much faster then anyone else, he ran like it was his favorite thing to do. He ran like it made him free.
Carlisle and I caught up to him when he slowed and crouched on the edge of a snow bank.
I looked out and noticed a very large wolf pack, all of them alert and looking around for any danger. They didn't know we were here, but they would shortly.
Carlisle nodded at me as he and Edward stood up at the exact moment, all three of us attacking the pack at once. The poor beasts tried to flee, tried to get away, tried to fight. However; we were faster, and more importantly we were stronger.
I caught a good sized male who fought me with all of his strength before I sank my teeth into it's neck, my mouth closing instantly around the wound. I drank it's life into my own, feeling my body grow stronger as I fed.
I set the wolf down when it was finished and looked around to see that Edward and Carlisle had already finished. I wiped my mouth on the sleeve of my jacket without thinking and heard both of them laugh at me.
"Oh Esme will LOVE that." Edward laughed.
"Oh yes." Carlisle agreed. "We'll have to get that as much of that cleaned up before we go meet them."
"We're meeting them?" I asked, a bit too excited.
They both started laughing.
"You are really attached, aren't you?" Carlisle asked.
I nodded, knowing I had to tell them how I felt. I took a deep breath, trying to figure out how to say all of what I felt.
Carlisle was looking at Edward, who was watching me closely.
"Interesting." Edward said as he shook his head.
"What?" Carlisle asked.
"May I?" Edward asked.
I smiled as I bowed in front of him. "Yes, it might be easier."
"Emmett loves her." Edward said, surprised by how I felt. "It hurts you to be away from her, doesn't it?"
I nodded slightly. "I don't understand." I whispered.
Carlisle walked over, putting a hand on my shoulder. I rose my head and looked directly into his caring eyes.
"I understand. I had no idea that your bond was that strong already." He said more to himself then to me. "Quite the sup rise."
"What does that mean?" I asked.
"Well, your bond is much like mine and Esme's. We can't be away from each other for very long, it almost hurts us. I can't describe it very well." He said quietly.
"Like a piece of you is gone?" I asked.
He nodded. "Even now, a part of me wants to run to her. I can't though, they say 'distance makes the heart grow fonder.' And they are correct to a point, but the distance hurts too."
I nodded. "I thought I was the only one."
"No, son. I would think that Rosalie and Esme are having a conversation much like ours...well without the wolves knowing those two." Carlise said.
At that same moment, Edwards head whipped to the side. "Ohhh fun." He said as he took off running.
I looked at Carlisle who shrugged quickly as he took off, running after Edward. I wanted to know so much more. I had so many questions but my curiosity was running wild...I had to know what caused Edward to have such a reaction.
"Wait up." I said quietly, knowing that they both heard me. I took off running deeper into the woods, following their trail.
Thanks and luv you all!!
