It was the middle of February, to be specific, it was Valentine's Day, and it had been at least a year since the cast of "Sherlock" had seen each other. Well, of course they called and texted each other, but it wasn't the same as actually seeing each other.
The story actually begins on a not so busy train, and Benedict Cumberbatch was sitting alone in one of the cars, wearing an extremely formal tuxedo, even though returning to film "Sherlock" to the writers wasn't that big of a deal. He didn't mind too much though, because he was too busy thinking. He was thinking about what would happen on set and a little bit about filming the first episode for the second series. That's when the flashbacks began, and they were mainly about Lara Pulver, one of his co-stars.
The first flashback was when he and Lara Pulver met. This was of course before they filmed the scene when Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler met. They had read the scripts for the few scenes at Irene's home, and they were both nervous, but for entirely different reasons.
Benedict looked at her, reading her expression as she read her script once more, and he replied, "You're nervous and confused, aren't you?"
Lara turned to look at him and answered, "Yeah, how did y-?"
"You look awfully tense, you haven't moved at all, and your eyebrows are almost stitched together. What is it you're nervous about?"
She sighed and answered, "I can't believe I'm going to have to be mainly naked for most of the scenes."
"I can't believe that I'm going to have to let you hit me, which will probably take several takes."
"Well, I guess it's not everyday that you get hit by someone wearing practically nothing!"
They both laughed and smiled at each other. "Benedict Cumberbatch," he replied.
"Lara Pulver," she replied, and they shook hands.
The second and last flashback was when Benedict and Lara were filming a scene in which Sherlock and Irene were alone in Sherlock's living room at night. Benedict and Lara had known each other quite well by now, and both had a secret crush on each other. Benedict was fighting the urge to kiss her while they were filming the entire scene. How close they were, how much it seemed that their characters would kiss, but alas, Steven Moffat had decided to not have them kiss after a long and heated argument with Mark Gatiss.
It felt like an eternity had passed when it was the end of the filming day and the actors and crew could head to their trailers. Benedict, being the gentleman he was, decided to walk with Lara to her trailer, for it was raining and he had an umbrella. And he really liked her. On the way to her trailer, they talked about the filming day, but Benedict was thinking about something. Lara noticed this, and when they got to her trailer, she asked, "What are you thinking about, Benedict?"
He sighed and answered, "If we don't see each other again and don't have each other's numbers, how are we going to keep in touch?"
Lara smiled and replied, "Silly. I'll give you my number, of course, and I know you'll probably give me yours." She then looked at him. He was perhaps the kindest man she had ever met, and now that she would leave the set in a few days, she had to do something that he would remember her by, so she gave in to her emotions. She placed her right hand on his cheek and gave him a short and sweet kiss.
Benedict was shocked. She had just kissed him, and because of that, he couldn't fight his emotions any longer. He kissed her, and even though their kiss started slow, it slowly became more passionate. When they parted, they were both shocked about what happened. Lara then smiled and replied, "I guess I'll see you tomorrow." She then kissed his cheek and entered her trailer. Benedict was in shock, but then smiled. Normally, he really didn't like rain, but that night, he couldn't love rain more.
Benedict's flashbacks had now ended, and he realized that the train had stopped. After he got off, he saw a woman get off, and she looked awfully familiar. Could it be? No, it couldn't be. Yes. It was her. She was wearing the most beautiful red dress you can imagine, and he smiled when he saw her.
"Lara!" he called to her.
She turned around, and realizing who it was, she smiled back. "Benedict!" she called back.
They then embraced. Suddenly, all the emotions they had faced once before came back. They kissed, this kiss a little bit more passionate than the last one. Once they parted, Lara smiled and replied, "Happy Valentine's Day. How was your year?"
They talked about their year, and what they didn't notice was that they were walking hand in hand.
