She’s one of the stars of hit Disney Channel TV series Austin & Ally, and now Laura Marano is hoping to hit the big time in the West End.
As a talented singer, dancer and actress, Laura, 16, said that she would ‘love’ to star in a musical, and already has a role she has her eye on.
In an interview with MailOnline, Laura said: ‘When I was in my hotel, I actually watched Bridget Jones’ Diary for the first time and I absolutely loved it.'And now there’s going to be a musical? Well, you know, I love music and I loved that movie, so maybe I could combine the two things and star in that!’
Dream role: Laura said she'd love to star in a Bridget Jones musical
Laura stars alongside Ross Lynch as Austin in the hit series, which tells the story of an outgoing performer and an insecure songwriter who team up to create the perfect hit-making partnership.
And while the cast are currently filming the second series of the show, due to premiere in America this week, Laura said there’s nothing she would like more than to continue in her role as the awkward but adorable songwriter.
She said: ‘Filming this show is just so much fun. It’s so great when something is so much fun on the script and then also super fun in real life.’
Asked if she could see an Austin & Ally movie in the pipeline in the future, Laura said: ‘I would absolutely love to do a movie. There are no plans currently to do one, but I literally can’t imagine anything more fun than that.’
Laura, who has just flown back to the States after her first trip to London, added: ‘I was a huge Lizzie McGuire fan so the Lizzie McGuire movie was literally the best thing ever.
‘And Lizzie went to Italy in the movie, so I’d love to be able to go to some exotic European location for the film – maybe even London!’
In the show, Ally finds fame when Austin records one of her songs and puts in on the internet, becoming an overnight sensation.
And Laura told MailOnline that she sees the net as a new and exciting way that young people can launch their careers.
She said: ‘There’s actually a guy right now and his name is Austin Mahone and he’s awesome. I think that great about the internet and YouTube and that we can see so many inspiring artists who can show the world their talent.’
For now, talented Laura is doing her best to balance all aspects of her life, which include singing, acting and studying.
