As stated in The Reflections 1964 hit song, Michael and Lisa Marie romance went down just the tragedy of "Romeo and Juliet". Similar to the ill-fated lovers in the classic Shakespere tragedy, but in this scene, Romeo dies, and Juliet lives. Michael and Lisa Marie, who came from two prominent showbiz families, and practically lived most of their lives in the public eye met as children; in addition, to getting reacquainted in the early-90's, found a common ground. Michael and Lisa Marie first met when they were children in the mid-70's, through her father, the "King Of Rock And Roll", Elvis Presley. Who would have thought 19 years later, they exchange vows in the Dominican Republic in secret wedding ceremony on May 26, 1994.

According to close friend of theirs, Michael and Lisa Marie of reacquainted, by way of, invitation to a dinner party given by their close friend; however, she was married to first husband, Danny Keough, at the time. As stated by Lisa Marie, Michael would openly flirt with her the whole evening, and she would turn down his advances. In 1993, when Michael was accused of sexual assault in regards to former friend, Jordie Chandler, Lisa Marie, alongside good friend, Elizabeth Taylor and his family, she became one of his biggest allies; in addition, to encouraging him to enter rehab for his addiction, which he did. Prior to the scandal, Michael proposed to Lisa Marie while in the middle phone conversation, and she accepted.

They started out as friends, lovers, and took vows of man and wife; however, that wasn't the case. They went their separate ways, and years after their divorce Lisa Marie was heartbroken subsequent to learning of Michael's passing. Their relationship reminded me of "Romeo and Juliet", but this time Romeo dies and Juliet lives. Michael and Lisa Marie's ill-fated union just wasn't meant to be.
