End of Chapter 2
This was going to drive me nuts! I closed my eyes and thought of the dream..running through the snow, being chased..and the voice at the end. It was all so real, like I could almost feel the breath of his words against the back of my neck.
I wished and hoped that something would happen, that I would suddenly understand what was going on with me..was I going nuts? Was I going to deserve all the names I had been called when I was little? I made myself stop thinking about all of that, rolling over onto my side, a pillow tucked into my side. I closed my eyes and next thing I know I heard someone whisper.."It's about time."
Chapter 3
I was instantly annoyed, and I turned to tell whoever was talking to me exactly what I thought of their tone and their words..and ask what the hell was going on...but when I saw the face that went with the words all of my coherent thoughts went away.
Standing in front of me was a guy who had to have been about my age, he was taller then me..probably well over six feet tall. He wasn't the most muscular guy I've seen, but the way he stood reminded me of a cat, muscles tensed..ready to jump or attack at anytime even when standing still. I must have looked surprised or shocked because he laughed quietly, a smile pulling up the left side of his lips. Yet again I wanted to tell him to stop laughing at me..to find out what was going on..where I was..but when I looked up into his eyes my mind went blank. Saying that his eyes were brown would be like saying that the sky was blue. There were so many colors swirled in his eyes, I knew I should look away but the colors were so deep, so rich that I couldn't.
I have no clue how long I stood there like an idiot staring at his eyes..but I think I could have stayed all day. His soft laughter brought me out of the trance that I was in, instantly making me feel silly and stupid...how long was I staring at him? I could feel my face burn with a blush that instantly gave away the feelings I had.
"It's alright." He said, his words dancing across my skin.
I had a moment of horror when I realized that I was last wearing my flannel pants and a tank top, I slowly looked down and was happy when I found that I was wearing a purple low cut tank and a pair of super cute jeans with killer black heels.
"You seem surprised." He said, bringing my attention back to him and not my clothing.
"Um.." Yeah great start I thought as I tried to gather my thoughts together so I wouldn't sound like a moron. "I am, where am I? Who are you?"
"She truly has no idea." Said a female voice.
I turned towards the direction of the voice but didn't see anyone. I must have had a less then friendly look on my face because I heard the boy next to me laugh as he stepped in front of me, blocking my glare at the woods.
"Elizabeth." He said softly but firmly. "Knock it off, she has no clue."
I heard a girl laugh and about a minute later a girl about 18 or 19 walked out of the thick woods that surrounded us. She was so elegant, she reminded me of a model with her high cheek bones and her dancer like grace. I was instantly jealous, the clothes that had just made me feel better now made me feel frumpy and ugly.
"Awww why so sad?" She asked as she stepped closer to me and the guy I still didn't know.
I tried to think of a good answer, should I be honest and tell her that she made me feel like a dog standing next to her? Should I make up something and hope it makes me sound intelligent and sophisticated? Or should I stick with the truth?
"Are you sure this is her?" Elizabeth asked as she smiled at me. "She seems so confused. Are you alright little bird?"
I looked up at her and smiled, I usually hated it when people made nicknames for me but this one seemed right to me. I was not tall in fact I was Shorter then most people..but I liked it, it made me stand out.
"I'm fine," I said as I smiled at both of them. "I just have a lot of questions...which I need answered. The first is who are you? The second is where am I? And the third, the third is what is going on?"
"Yeah, I think this is her." Elizabeth said as she laughed.
"Ok," The guy said as he moved a little bit closer to me, his smile warming me from my toes to my head. "First things..this is Elizabeth..and that's all I can tell you for now. I am Dominic, most people call me Dom."
I smiled at both of them, surprised because they were actually going to answer my questions.
"Secondly." Dom said as he moved a little bit to get my attention again. "You wanted to know where we are..and again I can't tell you everything yet. I know this must be frustrating but you have to trust us."
"Trust you?" I said as my anger took over. "Trust you? Why in the name of all that's good should I trust you? I have no clue who you are!"
"I just said," Dom said as he grinned mockingly at me. "This is Elizabeth, and I'm Dom."
"Nice." I said as I turned on my heel and started walking away from them both. I don't know if it's just because of my lack of sleep last night, or the fact that I didn't know what the hell was happening but I was angry..and no one wanted that.
"Wait!" I heard called as I stomped away from them which I quickly realized was suddenly transitioning into a snowy slope...snow..my feet.
I stopped instantly my entire body frozen to the core of my being. How did I know this place? Could it really be the place from my dream last night? Did they have the answer to my third question? I turned to see them both running at me, Dom's hands stretched out in front of him as if he were reaching for me as I slid on the ice, my entire body going vertical as Ihit my head and everything going black..again.
