1981. - Lars Ulrich meets James Hetfield and after 5 months they founded a band.
Spring of 1982. - First live appearance, and same year they make their first demo recording "No Life 'til Leather"
Fall of 1982. - They notice Cliff Burton at the concert and they call him in the band instead of Ron McGovney.
March od 1983. - With their new bassist they make their new demo called "Megaforce"
April of 1983. - Because of alcoholism they kick Dave Mustaine out of the band, who founded Megadeth after that, and get replaced by Kirk Hammett.
July of 1983. - They publish their first album "Kill 'em All", band goes on a tour.
August of 1984. - Second album "Ride the Lightning" is published.
September of 1984. - Band signs agreement with Elektra Records and goes on a first European tour.
March of 1986. - "Master of Puppets" is published, one of their best albums, which was sold in 3 million copies.
July of 1986. - On Swedish tour the bus crashed and bassist Cliff Burton dies (R.I.P)
March of 1987. - The tour continues with new bassist Jason Newsted.
1988. - Album "...And Justice for All" is published and after 2 months is slod in million copies.
January 1989. - Metallica makes their first video for song "One".
1989. - Bend was nominated for Grammy for first time, but in category for best hard rock/metal performance loses from Jethro Tull.
November of 1990. - They start making album that is going to cost 1 million $ and will end 3 marriages.
1991. - Album "Metallica" is published. It sells in 7 million copies and the bend goes on a tour that lasts 14 months.
1996. - "Load" is published. All band members cut their hair.
1997. - Album "Re-Load" is published.
January of 2001. - Jason Newsted leaves group after arguments with Hetfield and Ulrich.
2003. - Robert Trujillo is a new bassist.
June of 2003. - Their 8th album "St. Anger" is published.
2004. - The song "St. Anger" wind Grammy for best metal performance.
