People have been wanting to me to continue with this fic, I don’t know why, I think I am a rubbish writer but people keep telling me I am good so, anyway, last chapter was from Haley’s point of view when her Mom came and told her that she had cancer, this chapter is going to be in the future, a couple of weeks in the future, Lydia’s condition has deteriorated significantly and Haley is at a lost cause, not knowing what to do…
BTW: All these chapters are going to be from Haley’s point of view
I’d always lived a sheltered life, from being born to marrying Nathan, my family had always given me what I needed and what I wanted, which was, most importantly love, when my Dad had died five years previous, I was glad I’d had Nathan standing by my side, because if I hadn’t, then I wouldn’t be here today, the world crumbled around me when I found out about my Mom, she was the glue that held us all together after Dad’s death, and now she was dying, I sat in bed, staring at the ceiling, I felt the bed move a bit and looked to my side, Nathan was waking up…
‘’How much sleep have you had?’’ Nathan asked
‘’An hour, here and there’’ I replied honestly
‘’I think you should stay in bed today’’ Nathan said
‘’I’m not staying in bed, I have to go and see my Mom’’ I replied
‘’Hales, your not going to be any use to her when your suffering from exhaustion’’ Nathan said ‘’Jamie and I will go and see her today, go and tell her how your doing, she’ll want to know, and while we’re gone, I don’t want you lifting a finger’’
‘’Fine’’ I said
Nathan and Jamie left the house an hour and a half later, there was nothing to do, Nathan had done it all, he’d cleaned the kitchen after breakfast, to my exact specifications, which was a surprise, he’d made Jamie’s bed, and he’d done everything that had needed to be done, that I was going to do when I got back from seeing my Mom, I sat down in the living room, flicked on the TV and stared aimlessly at some animal documentary, not taking anything in…
‘’Hales’’ I heard Nathan shouting as he came through the door
‘’Nathan, what is it?’’ I asked as he came into the living room
‘’It’s your Mom, she hasn’t got much time’’ Nathan said
I stood up, and ran out of the house, and into the car, we got to the care home we had got her into and I jumped out of the car, Nathan following me…
‘’Where’s Jamie?’’ I asked as we went down the corridor
‘’Mouth and Millie came and picked him up, they said they’ll have him for however long we need’’ Nathan said
I didn’t reply, just nodded as we got to Mom’s room, she laid there in the bed, pale and frail, her lunch had been left on a tray, I looked at it…
‘’She couldn’t eat it, she kept throwing it back up’’ Nathan whispered
I went and sat next to her and held her hand…
‘’Can you call Quinn?’’ I asked Nathan
‘’Already done, she and Clay are on their way’’ Nathan said
I weakly smiled and turned back to my Mom, I caressed her hand and stroked her hair….
‘’Mom’’ I said
‘’It’s okay sweetheart, I know it’s my time’’ Lydia replied
‘’Mom’’ I said, the tears starting to fall ‘’don’t say that, it’s not your time, not yet, you’ve got fight left in you, I know you have’’
‘’Darling, I haven’t, it’s my time’’ Lydia said
‘’Mom, please, don’t give up’’ I said
Nathan stood there, helpless, Quinn and Clay arrived ten minutes later, Quinn came and sat by my side while Nathan went and joined Clay…
‘’Boys, could you give us a minute? I want to say good bye to my girls’’ Lydia requested
Nathan and Clay both nodded and exited the room, Nathan shutting the door behind him, back in the room…
‘’Now listen you two, you’ve got good boys there, Haley, Nathan and you are meant to be, me and your father always said that, and we were both so glad to have been a part of Jamie’s life, and remember, when, not if you become pregnant, when, I am going to be here, in your hearts, and your minds, and Quinny, Clay’s a good man, don’t let him go, we had a conversation the day I arrived, and he loves you to pieces, Haley, I know Nathan loves you to pieces to, I want you girls to be happy for the rest of your lives, and with those men by your side, I know you will’’
Two hours later Lydia had gone, she’d died in her sleep, the best way to go, I walked into the waiting room to find Nathan and Clay sitting their in silence…
‘’Clay, I think you’d better go to Quinn, she’s been sick’’ I said
Nathan stood up as Clay exited the room, I looked up at Nathan and started to sob…
‘’She’s gone Nathan, she’s gone’’ I said as he wrapped his arms around me, he sighed
‘’Hales, I’m so sorry’’ Nathan replied, that was exactly what he had said to me the night my Dad had died
Nathan held me until my tears had gone, not fully but had gone, for now, he then took me home, just as Clay had done with Quinn, we walked to the car in silence, Nathan’s hand clasped around mine, tightly, to let me know that no one was going to hurt me, I knew that already, I just needed reassurance, it’s like Nathan could read my mind, he knew everything I needed…
Next chapter I am bringing Lucas and Peyton in to it, hope you like that idea, I liked the idea of Haley needing both her husband and her best friend to help her get through this J like?
