It was time to start school once again. I would be starting the seventh grade. After school, I immediately went jogging with my puppy, Redford and my friend, Brian. Unfortunately, Brian scared me at one point. He said to me, "Aubrey, we need to stop." I asked, "Why? What's wrong?" He said, "I feel light-headed." He then collapsed at my feet in a dead faint. Redford and I stayed close to Brian. I was prepared to let Redford off the lead to find help. Fortunately, after about thirty seconds, Brian came to. He asked, "What just happened?" I said, "You fainted. Are you okay?" He said, "I don't know." I said, "You were keeping a good pace. Did you bring any water?" He said, "No." I said, "You better drink some water then." I pulled out a bottle of water from my backpack. He drank it and said, "Thanks." I said, "That's why I packed extra." That night, I had a wonderful dream. Jim came to me. I was excited to see him. I said, "Jim, I've missed you so much." He said, "I know." I said, "I have so much I want to tell you. You were the best friend I ever had. I'm glad that I had you in my life for six years. I love you, Jim!" He said, "Aubrey, I never doubted that you loved me. I remember the time you beat up that bully, Grant, for me. He made the mistake of knocking one of my teeth out, and you came out of nowhere and dropped him hard. You hit him so much that it sounded like applause." We laughed. I said, "Yes, I remember that." He said, "I know you and Brian are really close now." I said, "Yes, he has been with me through everything." Jim said, "Don't take your new best friend for granted." I said, "Don't worry, Jim. I won't do anything different from what I did with you." The next day, I told Brian about my dream. Brian said, "I know I'm not Jim." I said, "No, but you're still good to me. When Jim died, you were there for me through everything. When I cut, you didn't judge. You even helped me when I sprained my ankle. You're a true friend, Brian. That's something you have in common with Jim." Brian smiled and said, "I'm very flattered, Aubrey. I promise that I'll be your best friend until the end." It has been ten years now. Redford has aged, but he's still as loyal as ever. Brian and I are older now, but we're still best friends. Although I still miss Jim and always will, I know he is all right. I know he is waiting for me. I have all these scars, but I am well.
