Saturday came, and Anjanette went to the pet rescue center with Uncle Bruce. Tammy's mother greeted them. She said, "Welcome! I'm sure you're here to see the puppies." Anjanette said, "Yes. I heard from Tammy that you have Collie puppies." Tammy's mother smiled. "You must be Anjanette. Tammy has told me a lot about you." Anjanette and Uncle Bruce were directed to the dog kennels. They saw all kinds of dogs, from Poodles to German Shepherds. They then saw the most adorable Collie puppies. Tammy's father said, "They are up to date on all their shots, including Rabies. They can go all sorts of places with you." Anjanette asked, "How do we pick one?" She never got to choose a puppy. A sable and white female chose her. Anjanette immediately knew there was something special about the pup. She was the only one that had the Lassie look. As Uncle Bruce filled out the adoption form, Tammy's mother said, "You have to pick a name for her." Anjanette said, "Her name is Misty." Misty barked in approval. Anjanette laughed. That night, Misty cried a bit, but she soon settled down and snuggled with Anjanette. The next day, Anjanette took Misty to Ferdinand's. She got on well with all his pets. He said, "There really is something special about her. She is the first dog who doesn't offer to chase my pets." On Monday, during lunch, Tammy asked, "How's Misty getting along?" Anjanette said, "I think she knows she's home. She gets into a lot, but she is so sweet. She brings a lot of joy. I don't think I'm going to have nightmares anymore." Tammy asked, "Why do you have nightmares?" Anjanette said, "There's still a part of the past that haunts me." She paused. She then remembered that Uncle Bruce told her to let Tammy in. Anjanette then rolled up her sleeve, revealing two large scars.
