Chapter 2
His black ghostly shape was what scared me most. It was like a dead being. Or a memory from my past. His laugh was on edge, the kind that reminds you of someone scrapping their nails on a black board. He didn't look much of anything really. Except for the fact that he had a pair of giant glowing red eyes. That weren't even near human.
He cackled and twisted my mind. I wasn't waking up from this dream. I was locked in. "You can't leave darling!!" He whispered in my ear. It was warm and ugly smelling.
"It's my dream!" I whispered back. It hurt to speak as if a frog really was in my throat. "You are in my dream Kronos!! Go away!!"
He smiled. A row of yellow teeth showed on a wisp of black smoke. "Demigods don't own their dreams. They are given them. The person who gives it decides what happens from there."
I screamed at the top of my lungs, only thinking that doing so would help me. But he only laughed more.
He suddenly disappeared. Still with the disdain look on his face. Instead of me being in the presence of a shadow the scene changed in my mind.
I saw a small girl with shocking red hair that bounced of her shoulders when she ran. Big beautiful brown eyes twinkled at her mother. I'm guessing it was her mother. They looked extremely alike.
She giggled as her mother squeezed her in her arms and tickled her. The laugh reminded me of gumdrops falling into clear water. A smooth, fairy like sound was what described her voice.
"I love you mommy!" The girl whispered as she kissed her mother on the cheek.
The taller woman smiled. "I do too."
I then realized who that small but loving family was. I knew them. Quite well actually. That little girl was me. You could still see the black diamond birthmark on her ankle. And the other woman was my mother. My loving, beautiful mother that I admired so much. Addison told me how she died. But I was hoping to not dream that now.

Weirdly, I woke up on a hospital bed rather than my tree house bed which I swear I was in before. It was hard to open my eyes, the seemed to be clamped shut.
I heard voices around me, and I decided to pretend to sleep so I could hear what they were saying. I heard a deep voice and the clip clop of horse feet. I'm guessing Chiron was in my room. But why my tree house?
Then I heard Aubrey's voice. She seemed scared. "Chiron!! I've healed her all I can!! But for some reason she won't wake up from her sleep!! It's almost lunch time!!"
Chiron took a deep breath. "Calm down Aubrey!" He said soothingly. "Jess will be fine as long as we don't move her. She probably is getting another dream from her father. I don't encourage that at all but apparently all dreams are given for a reason. Especially to demigods."
I heard Aubrey sigh and Chiron left the room. As soon as I was falling back asleep I felt a spoon of liquid lucky charms forced into my mouth. I knew it was nectar. I always taste lucky charms when I take it.
I tossed and turned after I drank it all. I wanted to wake up. I knew I was awake but I was confused why my eyes wouldn't open.
I suddenly heard Aubrey laugh. Immediately my eyelids burst open revealing that I was sleeping in the infirmary with Aubrey by my side.
"Why am I here!!" I said almost yelling. I don't remember ever getting hurt.
Aubrey frowned. "Your arms Jess. They're burned."
In surprise I looked down. Across all my arms was black and red third degree burns. My arms ached that I could now see what damage had been done.
"How did this happen!!" I said trying to get out of bed. But when I sat up my head went all dizzy and my head plopped down on the pillow again.
Aubrey sighed. She didn't want to explain. "Jesslyn, last night you went into a trance again. You summoned the metal dragon. It burned half the forest. You also....um....killed Anikan.
I gasped. Anikan was my favorite Pegasus. He and I were good friends. I named him after the young Jedi from Star wars mainly because he reminded me of him.
"I did!" I said now fully crying.
Aubrey nodded. "You burned yourself in the doing of it all. You were screaming like you were scared. It started out at camp fire. I couldn't find you so I guessed you went to bed early so I stayed. But then when Kennedy started screaming we all knew what happened. She was in the mouth of the dragon and you were standing on the platform laughing as it happened."
"I...I....I can't believe I did that!" I whispered. How stupid could I be? My stomach lurched up. I wanted to hate myself, kill myself. I pretty much already did.
"Its not your fault Jess its just-"
"NO!!! NO IT IS MY FAULT!! MY STUPID DAD ALL HE CARES ABOUT IS DEATH!! ALL YOU OTHER DEMIGODS HAVE GOOD PARENTS WHO ARE POWERFUL AND DON'T KILL FOR FUN!! MINE DOES!! Its.....Its my fault the camp is almost burned down. I'm stupid."
Aubrey wrapped me in a hug. "No you aren't Jess. You're perfect the way you are. You didn't choose your father. He is taking over your mind. If any one is to blame its him. Don't go hating yourself."
I sniffled and she held me tighter. Soon Aubrey began to sing to me. The conch horn blew for lunch, but Aubrey didn't get up.
"I am a child of God
And so my needs are great,
Help me to understand his words
before it grows too late
Ohh
Lead me guide me
Be on my side
Help me find the way,
teach me all that I must do
to be like them some day."
Aubrey sang the song with sweet crystal words. I smiled and drifted off to sleep.
