PS3 Report
As a parent, you would likely to be very concernt about your own child’s development. Most likely, you would be worried if your kids are spending too much time playing video games on systems such as the PlayStation 3.

Whether you’re in the camp that believes that video games really do nothing but assist in turning your child’s brain to mush or are of the belief that there’s nothing wrong with a child playing video games, it’s really quite interesting to see what studies have shown about children and playing video games.

Video games can hold a child’s attention. If a video game is a quality game (PS3 or otherwise), it will be challenging and complicated without losing any of its entertainment value.

There are a great many Playstation 3 games that can require over fifty hours of complete concentration in order to successfully be able to complete that game. Children that are dealing with ADHD and have real problems with having to sit still in situations such as school are able to focus their attention for several uninterrupted hours playing a video game.

Many experts believe that the reasoning behind this is that the interaction that the video game provides a child with holds their attention in a manner that a classroom is unable to do.

Playing video games can help advance a child’s reading level. Playing a video game has been shown to increase the reading level of some children. For example, a child is playing a role-playing video game and, while doing mundane tasks such as purchasing a home to live in and obtaining things like food and money, he’s also interacting with other characters in the game.

Whether conversing with non-player characters or even other children playing (Playstation 3 has online game playing capabilities), he’ll be increasing his overall knowledge of words and quite likely end up reading at an advanced level.

Video games can increase a child’s interest in new things. Video games can open a child up to developing an interest in new things. For example, say your child is playing a video game where they get to become part of an ancient Greek civilization.

This could not only lead them to become more interested in world history, but also mythology as well should the Gods and Goddesses of Mount Olympus play a part in the game.

Developing new interests can make a child feel more confident about themselves and can help them make new friends as your child will likely want to seek out other children who share their newfound interest.

So while most experts and parents alike are in agreement that video game play should be a limited pastime, the next time your child shows an interest in playing, don’t be so quick to dismiss them since buying a Playstation 3 can end up providing your child with much more than a means of entertainment.
