chapter seven:One last look POV Rainwind
Rainwind sighed, opening her eyes, letting them adjust to the pale morning light that replaced the nights darkness in the nursery.
She stood up, and, without disturbing her beloved kit and other fellow queens, padded out of her den and into the nearly empty camp.Rainwind looked around, and padded over to the freshkill pile.Looking down at it, she decided on a nice rabbit for her and Rockkit could share, and possibly, if he woke up soon, Ravenheart could join them to as they dined on the juicy rabbit.
Rainwind started back towards the nursery with the prey in her jaws, only to stop, hearing someone call her name.
Rainwind turned towards where the voice came from, and saw that it was Smokestar and Brairleaf.
Rainwind got an odd feeling of uneasiness in her gut, as if it was telling her to run away and never come back.Rainwind pushed back the thought, she had only looked at them! Rainwind set down her rabbit in front of the nursery,so at least one of the queens would get it. Rainwind looked up to see that Brairleaf and Smokestar where heading out of camp, gesturing for them to follow her.Rainwind felt the feeling of dread and uneasiness in her gut increase even more, but she swallowed back her increasing suspicion, and fallowed them out of camp, with one last look at her beloved kit, she followed her killers out of camp.
Smokestar and Brairleaf where soon lost in the tall grass and gorse, but Rainwind soon picked up their scent, heading towards the very middle of the territory. "Hey guys, wait up1" Rainwind called, running to catch up to the Windclan leader and medicine cat."Rainwind hurry! We have to show you something!"Smokestar called out, not to far ahead. Rainwind wondered why these to cats wanted to show HER.Most likely because she was the first p,and they needed to show somebody to judge their reaction before they showed the rest of the clan.Rainwind nodded to herself, decided that most likely that was it.But what would be in the exact middle of the territory? Not even alot of Windclan cats came here, just because they where to lazy to make the journey. True, it wasn't the farthest away from camp, but the grass and gorse was alot thicker here, and the ground more dry and rough, and hot too. Rainwind stopped, catching her breath before crouching low, trying to find Brairleaf and Smokestar's scent again."Rainwind, what are you doing?"Her sisters voice sounded from behind her, scaring Rainwind and causing her to jump.Rainwind then turned around, and let the fur on her shoulders go down."Sorry..you sca-"Before Rainwind could proceed any further, she heard a soft growl sound from behind her, and Smokestar flew out of the gorse, landing on Rainwind's back at such a fast speed she never had time to dodge.Smokestar dug her claws into the young she-cats neck, sinking them deeper and deeper till red started to stain her fur.Rainwind yowled in pain, and as Smokestar jumped off, only to start to tear at her tail, Brairleaf told her of all the things that she had done to lead up to this.Rainwind could only stare and make gurgling noises as the two she-cats tore at her stomach, tail, and neck. She desperately fought back, but it was no use. Finally, once Rainwind's eyes where all glazed over, the cats pulled away.Brairleaf looked down at the she-cat,her own sister, and only said these words:"Enjoy your punishment.Though, if only there was something far more painful waiting you.Starclan,no,death itself is to good for you."And with that, both cats left. Those words hurt Rainwind more then anything. She laid her head down, waiting for the pain to stop, and to be greeted by her warrior ancestors.Only that didn't come fast enough. It seemed like moons before the pain finally started to go away, and the sun was bright and high in the sky.Blood was all over the ground, and it seemed as if it filled Rainwind's lungs, it seemed as if it filled her world now.(How come no one is coming??!!) She thought desperately. She didn't understand why no one from starclan was there, to save her from her pain and suffering as she slowly died, and she also didn't understand why none of her clanmates appeared. That's when she heard it.Paw steps, and grass rustling as a cat pushed through."RAINWIND!" A voice exclaimed.Rainwind sighed, and closed her eyes. So,she was found. Now she could rest in peace. She opened her eyes again to see Hawkpelt, one of her friends in the clan, looking down upon her, a horrified expression on his face."Hawkpelt..it's..good to see you...I'm..sorry for all the pain that..I've caused you.."Rainwind said, the pain almost gone now."Rainwind..no..no..please..no..don't don't leave! You can't!" Rainwind could feel herself slipping away, but desperately fought it,willing herself to stay a few precious seconds longer to tell Hawkpelt that her sister and their leader where the ones who killed her. But, when she tried to open her mouth, it wouldn't, and her gaze went all fuzzy as cold swept over her body.To soon she was swept away, and pulled towards the stars. Her last look at the real world was Hawkpelt, his muzzle buried into her now dead bodies side, regretting that he couldn't save her.
