Scotty McCreery has had some awfully big moments in 2011, not the least of which was winning Season 10 of "American Idol" in front of a huge TV audience.

But his North Carolina homecoming ranks right up there.

The American Idols LIVE! tour stopped on Wednesday night in Raleigh, just minutes from McCreery's hometown of Garner; he and his 10 fellow finalists spent the night in a hotel in the capital, then their caravan of tour buses rolled on to Charlotte's Time Warner Cable Arena for a Thursday night show.

"It was definitely a moment I'll never forget going out to the RBC Center, an arena that...

Garner, N.C. — For his second music video, "The Trouble With Girls," "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery decided to film with friends instead of actors and use his high school instead of a sound stage.

"We had a lot of options of where to choose, and I said, 'Why don't we just go to Garner and shoot with my people and my friends and people I've known all these years?'" he said.
McCreery, his friends and a production team spent 12 hours Saturday shooting the video at Garner Magnet High School. They moved throughout the school, shooting in a science classroom, the cafeteria and on the baseball...

GARNER -- When Scotty McCreery returned home last month to perform in the "American Idol" concert, a Nashville film crew was on hand to shoot footage for a documentary on the young singer.

The film will air on the Great American Country cable channel in October.

The crew, led by Todd Cassetty, interviewed Scotty at Raleigh's RBC Center on July 27, then toured Garner the next day, gathering interviews for "Introducing," a biographical series on GAC that features rising country stars.

"It's amazing to drive around town and see all the signs people have made to support him," Cassetty said of his...

Both Idol stars have formally entered the country fray, with McCreery’s single “I Love You This Big” and Alaina’s “Like My Mother Does” out at country radio and on iTunes. “I Love You This Big” made its debut at No. 32 on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart, the highest country debut for a new artist’s first single in modern chart history. In spite of that, neither teen sees success as ensured. Both are at the beginning of a process.

McCreery also must work to differentiate himself from baritone-voiced stars such as Chris Young and his own contemporary idol, Josh Turner.

American Idol" champ Scotty McCreery is excited to be hitting the road supporting Brad Paisley in the early part of 2012. But he's going in with his guard up.

"I've got to keep my eyes open, 'cause (Paisley) is a huge practical joker," McCreery tells Billboard.com. "I have to make sure I don't get pranked too bad." Or he could strike first. "Well...I've got a couple in my back pocket," McCreery acknowledges. I've got to think of something good, 'cause he's very unique with his."
McCreery and the Band Perry roll with Paisley starting Jan. 12 in Grand Rapids, Mich., and finishing March 3 in...

Scotty McCreery is finishing his ‘American Idols Live’ tour later this month as he preps to release his debut CD ‘Clear As Day’ on October 4th.

Scotty explains that the album will feature some “Rockin songs where they will be loud and upbeat and then some intimate songs…some of them will make you cry.” Scotty also explains that one factor in deciding a few of the songs were helped by his Mom’s reaction.

“Mama cried on a couple of them so we told all the guys to label them, when they sent me songs and demos I would email them back and say….Well it passed the Mama crying test so it must be a good one.”

Scotty is hoping that Mama knows hit songs as he expresses that he hopes the feeling becomes mutual to the fans.

“Hopefully it will have the same effect on you guys out there.”

Scotty and the other Idol finalist will complete the ‘Idols Live Tour’ on September 20th with a show in Quezon City, Philippines.
In a recent interview with the Boston Globe, Scotty McCreery reveals that there is "technically going to be one cover" that makes its way onto his debut album, Clear As Day, which is set to be released in October.

Scotty was kind enough to share that one already popular country star may be playing guitar on a track:

"It’s going to be all originals. There’s technically going to be one cover. Keith Urban pitched a song my way, and it’s one he did way back when he was part of the band called the Ranch. He’s on tour right now so we don’t know, but he said he might play guitar on the track."...

Scotty McCreery releases a new song today called “The Trouble With Girls,” which is the second single from his much-anticipated debut album, Clear As Day, due Oct. 4.

“It’s a really sweet song,” Scotty says. “I played it for my sister and I said, ‘Would you like to hear what’s said in this song?’ She said, ‘I would love to have a guy say some of this stuff to me.’

“It’s talking about how great they are and it’s tough for the guy to handle because he just loves it. It has a nice twist to it. It’s like the songwriters wrote it just for me.”

The chorus of the song,...

“My head is just spinning,” Scotty says. “It started out kind of low: They said 100,000 maybe. Then every day I saw the numbers climbing. It’s wild: It wasn’t a year ago that I was a normal cat, and now I’m number one on Billboard. It’s insane, it really is.”
“This is an incredible accomplishment, frankly, when you look at where he is in the marketplace as a 17-year-old country singer who no one even had heard of 10 months ago,” says Interscope Records head of sales Gary Kelly, who says the Universal Music Group initially projected 150,000 first-week sales for the title."...

Album cover for Clear As Day
American Idol champ Scotty McCreery recently revealed that he'd be covering a Keith Urban song on his new album, but didn't say which one. Until now.
"That's been the big mystery," Scotty acknowledges to CountryWeekly.com. “‘What song is Scotty singing?’”

In 1997, pre-solo success, Keith was a member of trio The Ranch; the band released the single “Walkin’ the Country,” which reached No. 50 on the Billboard country singles chart. Now, Scotty will include the song on his upcoming debut album, Clear as Day, which will be released Oct. 4.

Keith gave the song to Scotty with his blessing....

Will we be hearing new Scotty McCreery songs come Christmas time? That seems awfully soon to produce a whole new album - not that his fans would mind, I'm sure!

It cannot simply be a Christmas single as he says "a bunch of songs" that we'll be hearing! What do you think?
Idol Winner McCreery Bows with nearly 200k, #1 Debut, as Rodney Atkins, Feist, Jack's Mannequin Score Top 10 Bows

Scotty McCreery has proven a worthy American Idol winner. Celebrating his 18th birthday last Sunday (10/9), the good ole young boy from a small town in North Carolina debuts at #1 as his first studio effort, Mercury Nashville/19/Interscope’s Clear as Day, sells 198k in its first week.

That’s the most for an American Idol winner since David Cook’s debut sold 280k in Nov. 2008, and the first champ to bow at #1 with his initial release since second season champ Ruben Studdard’s Soulful topped the chart in 2003.
