Perhaps this was where they were meant to be from the start.
Perhaps this was where they were meant to be from the start.
These two and their friends-to-lovers story <333 I really enjoy this arc for them so much! :D

And yes, Colton = Jackson ;) you guys get it!!

Elle sighed, running a hand through her hair. She had no idea what to do now.
The night before her best friend of, well, the past 15 years of her life, had kissed her. They had been at a party, a casual high school party, when suddenly he'd walked up to her. They had been having a fight just the day before, and Elle had no idea what the fight could have possibly been about.
She had just talked to Colton about going on a date with a guy named Puck, and somehow he had gotten angry about that. But instead of explaining why he was upset, he'd just stormed off. And the very same night he'd... KISSED her.
She had no idea what to think about this. And of course she could not talk to him about it, and he had not offered much of an explanation before leaving. He got like that sometimes, all brooding and complicated. But he was also funny, amazing and he understood Elle completely. Yes, he was also good-looking, but that was not the point at all... of course not...
It was not the first time Elle had thought about the two of them getting together. The very first time had been during a truth or dare contest when they were ten, when they had almost been forced to kiss each other. However, her parents had walked in on them just in time to stop the game and tell the kids to go to bed. Which was fair, since it had been 2 in the morning.
Still, Elle had never even dared dreaming of the idea of actually starting soemthing with that idiot. He was her best friend, her not-better half. He understood all of her moods, he could read her with a single look, and he could make her smile no matter what was going on. But for her to have romantic feelings for him? No, that was just... crazy, right?
Elle groaned, burying her head in her hands. Very well, maybe it wasn't that crazy. They would be good together, there was no denying that. Even her parents had joked about the two of them acting like a married couple. But... no. It would be too good to be true. It would be too good for Elle's soulmate to be the person she had known her entire life. The one she trusted more than anyone.
It was too good.
Just as she was thinking about this, she heard a knock on her door. She turned around to find Colton standing there with a hesitant look on his face.
"I'm sorry I kissed you", he said quickly. "I didn't mean to. I really didn't... it's just that..."
"Colton-"
"No, let me finish", Colton groaned. "Or else I'll never say this." He sighed, staring at his hands. "I know it's not fair of me to put this on you, but when you told me you had feelings for Puck, I realized that... that I don't want to see you with anyone other than me, ok?" he looked at her with a tired look on his face. "I think I'm in love with you, and I know that's messed up, and weird, and I know we don't talk about stuff like that, but I don't want you to be with him. I just don't. I want you to be with me."
After saying all of that, he took a breather, looking at her in hesitation.
To his surprise, Elle was smiling.
She walked over to him, taking his face in her hands. "You idiot", she whispered before kissing him, and however surprised he was, Colton kissed her right back, wrapping his arms around her waist. And somehow, it did not feel strange at all. Perhaps this was where they were meant to be from the start. And it was exactly where they would always be, from that day on.
