It's Complicated Chapter Twenty Nine
Embry's POV
My body hurt everywhere. I could not move because of the pain and Lila was on top of me. But why was she on top of me. I do not even remember coming over to me when I was on the ground.
"Lila," I asked hoping she would answer me, "are you okay?"
I gave her a few seconds to reply but she never did. Surely, those Sam and them did not beat her death. I stopped breathing and I could her stomach rising and falling. I was so thankful.
"Lila, please wake up," I begged, "please!"
"Embry, are you okay," she asked softly.
"I think so," I said, "are you okay?"
"No, my ribs hurt," she cried, "Embry, I am so sorry!"
"Shhh, it is okay, Lila," I said, "it is not your fault!"
"If I had not of come this would have never happened," she mumbled as she slowly got up.
"It would have and it would have turned out worse if you were not here," I stated.
"Oh Lila," I said as I looked at her face.
Her poor face! It had dried blood all over. I barley had a scratch on my face.
"What," she asked worried.
"You probably saced my life," I said as I held back tears, "thank you Lila!"
Lila was all ready crying when she wrapped me in a hug. I wrapped my arms around her did not let her go for a while. We just sat there and hugged each other. We eventually got up and made our to my house.
The next morning I Lila slept in; I knew should be really sore so I wanted to let her sleep it off! I felt so bad that she got tangled up in this mess. Thankfully, today was Saturday and she would not be missing any school! But it also meant that she would going back to Billy's either tonight or tomorrow. Which I doubt she wanted too after last night.
Lila kept complaining about her ribs so when I looked at them they were pretty bruised up. They had to he broken or really bruised. I could not tell; she would not let me touch her ribs. But other than that we were pretty okay. Besides, some scratches on the face and some bruise.
"Embry," I heard Lila say frightened.
"Hey, what's wrong," I asked worried.
"I thought we were in the woods and it was dark," she said.
"Now we are home and it is sunny out. I just pulled the curtain too to help you help you sleep," I stated, "I am really sorry about last night!"
"It is okay! It is not your fault, Embry," she said.
"Why did you do it," I asked confused.
"Do what," she said as she looked at funny.
"You should have ran off and not let them beat you like they did," I stated.
"Leaving you behind was not an option," she said as put her hand over her ribs.
"Lila, I need to take you to the doctor," I said.
"No way," she said wide eyed, "you know they will ask what will happen and then I will have say 'I got into a fight with my step-brother'!"
"Well, so what," I said, "maybe the cops can knock some sense into those guys."
"Embry, we cannot," she said, "or at least not me."
"I am telling Billy when we see him," I stated.
"He is not going to do anything! He is going to 'oh, well, it was an accident," she said as she mocked him, "we should just run away and never come back go this stupid town!"
"Lila," I said as I sat down on the bed, "you know we cannot run away. That never solves anyones' problems."
"It could solve mine," she said as she started crying, "ever since I turned 16 life has been miserable!"
"I know it has and I am sorry," I said, "I wish there was something that I could do. But I tried to stand up to them last night and you saw what happen! And as much as I hate it, it has effected you!"
"Then what can we do to stop them," she asked.
"We go to Billy," I stated.
"I have tried; he will not listen to me," she said sadly.
"I will make him listen to me and we have evidence that they have beaten us," I stated, "we will find a way to get out this!"
"Okay," she said.
Lila stood up and I quickly caught her as she fell.
"What's wrong," I asked.
"I think my ankle might be broken," she said as she tried to cover up her pain.
"Why have you been doing that lately," I asked curiously, "you have to go to the hospital."
"Doing what," she asked confused, "no way, I am not going!"
"Trying to cover up your pain, your feelings," I said, "yes you are. Well, as soon as we see Billy!"
"They are not important," she shrugged, "seriously?"
"Yes they are and yes seriously," I stated.
"Fine," Lila grumbled as she got up.
I helped her to the bathroom so she could clean up.
"Just wash you face and change clothes," I said, "I do not want you to get soap in any open wounds."
"Okay, thank you Embry," she said, "I love you."
"I love you too. I am really sorry about everything that has happened," I said.
"It is okay," she shrugged.
I left her alone so she could clean up a little but and change into some different clothing.
"Hey Embry," she yelled, "I am ready to to!"
"Okay," I said as I came into her room.
"Remind me not to yell, it hurts my ribs, a lot," she said.
"Will do," I said trying not laugh a little.
I picked her up and carried her outside to my motorcycle.
"You know I could have walked," she stated.
"Not on that ankle your not," I said as I placed her on the back of the bike.
I got on the bike and we were headed to Billy's. Hopefully, Sam and Jake would be there to see what Billy had to say about this.
"Swing your good leg over," I said as I got off the bike.
"Hey, I was expecting you two to be back tomorrow," Billy smiled as he sat on the front porch.
"We ran into some trouble," I stated, "and by that I mean Sam and Jake!"
"Lila, are you okay," He asked as he saw me carrying her.
"No not really," she said as she busted out crying, "and neither is Embry!"
"What on earth happen to you two," Billy asked in shock.
