A Strange Way to Fall in Love Chapter Twenty One
Kyle's POV
"Kyle, you got mail," Mark said in disbelief, "and it smells like a hospital!"
"Dude, I don't believe you! Stop kidding me," I said annoyed.
Mark did this to me everyday when we had mail delivered.
"I'm not joking. It was inside my envelope," Mark stated as he handed it to me.
I ripped opened the letter and it was Lola!
"It's from Lola," I shouted, "she is okay!"
"That's great," he said.
I sat down on my bed and started crying. There was so many times were I thought she was never write me back. Or Horatio would never tell me if something happened to her.
"It's okay man. She's okay," mark said as he squeezed my shoulder.
"I know, these are tears of joys," I said sniffing.
"Well, what foes the letter say," he asked.
Dear Kyle,
Thank you so much for my saving my life! I am doing okay. The doctor said he wants me to stay in the hospital for a few more days. Just to watch me. I feel fine and I'm ready to move on! I am ready to go back to work! I hope I can still work with my shoulder being like this. That was a smart idea to put letter one on your letters. Thank you for writing me and keeping in touch. It can be just like the old times, oh wait never mind! We can make new memories instead of trying to remember the old depressing memories. We had just got all caught up and then all this happens. Another curveball thrown at life. Awe, I hate that you are home sick! If we write will it make it worse? What happened with Horatio? Is everything okay?
Lola
"Kyle, who did you get a letter from," Jason a guy in my unit asked.
"It's from a friend back home," I smiled.
"It's Lola. The girl from the stories," Mark interrupted, "they bumped into each other on accident and then he practically saved her life!"
"Whoa, major drama to be leaving back home," Jason said laughing a bit, "how did you too meant again?"
"I met Lola when I was sixteen. I had just been put in the same orphanage as her. She hated me when we first met. But we ended up becoming really good friends," I said.
"How come you have not been writing her all along," he asked curiously.
Mark was the only person I ever really talked to. Other than that the guys really had no idea about her or my life before the army.
"When I joined the army, she got adopted and I could never get in touch with her. Nobody would allow me access to a computer were I could get are address," I stated.
"Oh, why," Jason asked confused.
"Something about privacy," I shrugged.
"Kyle is in love," Mark said as he made fun of me.
"You know what, I will admit it. I am in love with Lola Brisk," I stated smiling, "she was something else."
I could not stop smiling from ear to ear. I really was in love with her. I had been for a really long time.
I sat there remembering all the memories we had together.
"Jason you will never believe the stories of the things him and Lola did when they were younger! It's unreal," Mark said in disbelief.
"What'd y'all do," he asked, "I bet it was something bad!"
"Actually it was right the opposite! We put bad guys in jail. Except for that one time we got put in juvenile detention," I said, "Lola's best friend was a CSI detective so when we got out in juvenile detention he helped us out by shortening our service time."
"What did y'all do to get put there," Jason asked stunned.
"I got drunk and tried to steal a yacht but Lola was one step ahead of me," I laughed, "she was already stealing it. She was still anchored to dock. I untied and hopped on. Not knowing anyone was on there."
"What happened then," Jason asked.
"The Coast Guard came after us. We stopped and they came aboard and arrested me. Lola hid in a cooler and it took them a couple of hours to find her," I said laughing, "I will never forget that! She opened the cooler lid and step in. Well, she sort of fell in too. She had a full bottle of liquor with her as she laid down. Then Lola closed the lid and I didn't see her for a while."
"That is so funny," Jason said laughing.
I looked over at Mark who was laughing so hard he was crying.
"That's not even the beginning of all the stories," Mark said as he calmed down.
"Well tell me more," Jason said as a couple of more guys pulled up some chairs to listen.
