A Girl Named Lacey Chapter Ten
Umm sure. I said.
Lacey looked like she was trying to decide on which question to ask.
How come I am not a vampire like the rest of the family? She asked.
Your adopted and well you are healthy so Carisle doesn't turn people unless they are dying. I said.
Oh okay. She mumbled.
"Why do you ask?"
I was wondering why I wasn't like you all, it's just weird now. Lacey said.
Lacey you're perfect the way you are. I said.
I don't feel like I belong. She said as she played with the salt shaker.
But you do in so many ways. I said.
How? She asked confused.
You are smart, beautiful, observant, and beautiful. I said.
You repeated beautiful. Lacey said.
I know that. I said.
Okay just making sure. She smiled.
Lacey Got some cheese biscuts and scarfed them down.
I sat there quietly watching as she observed everything. She got her food and I was still watching her eat.
Honey are you sure you don't want anything? The waitress asked.
No thank you, I ate early. I said.
Lacey started giggling.
Why does she keep flirting with you? She asked.
Flirting? I asked confused.
Yeah, they way you looked at her made her draw a breath in. She took a couple of deep breaths before she came over here. She was nervous to talk to you. You didn't even bother flirting back. Lacey said.
You are more observant than I thought. I don't want to lead a girl on that I don't like. I said.
I have always been observant. She said.
Since you found out the secret. I said.
Okay so I have gotten a little more observant. She shrugged.
Are you scared to be around us? I asked.
No not at all, I just have to lay more attion to you at home. I am constantly watching for someone to pop up in the living room or my bedroom. It has become a habit to be observant. Lacey said.
Okay, just making sure. What are you going to do with all those boys' numbers who are back in Scottville? I asked.
I threw them away. Why? She asked.
Just wondering, making small talk. I said.
She watched me for a few seconds and went back to eating.
Lacey thought nothing more about it, so it looked like. I hated that I couldn't read her thoughts. I bet they would be amazing! I would know all about what she really wanted to know or if she was really scared of us sometimes. To know if she liked me more than a brother would be nice to find out. I was getting less patient every day. I was getting sick of waiting. I don't know how much more I can wait. It's so hard to wait and see if they ever realize the feelings they have for you. Hopefully Lacey will realize it soon. I can always look forward to the future by Alice. I can see the way my future turns out. For better or worse, but I will just go for better and skip the worse part.
Edward, you ready? Lacey asked.
Yeah, I'm ready. I said.
I went to the car and opened The passenager's side door for Lacey.
Edward, people are watching. They are going to think that I'm your girlfriend. Lacey groaned.
And what's wring with that? I asked when I got into the car.
Because you're my brother! She said.
Step brother. Doesn't count. I said.
But you ar- never mind. She said.
Was she going to say that I am her brother not step brother. She really does forget that she's adopted. How could you forget something like? I just don't get it.
Where are you going? Lacey asked.
Back to the house. I said.
You just missed the turn. I thought vampires were suppose to be good at multi tasking. She stated.
We are but I have had a lot on my mind lately. I said.
Like what? She asked as she became very curious.
Just us moving and stuff. I said.
Stuff? She asked.
Nothing you need to know about, miss nosey. I said.
She started giggling while I stepped on the gas and returned to Scottville.
Umm sure. I said.
