How should I explain the Grim Reaper to my classmates?

When we had to write a story in school, I included the Grim Reaper in it. I read my work to the class and now lots of people are asking me who the Grim Reaper is. I tell them that he is death but they still don't seem to understand. How should I explain him to them?
