Johnny
The burns hurt but I’d never tell no one but Ponyboy that though they’d all understand people always looked down on me I didn’t want the gang to do that too. Ponyboy didn’t look down on me he understood we had similar ways of thinking but if I were gone I wouldn’t be missed nearly as much as him he had his brothers Darry and Soda pop I wouldn’t be missed by anyone but the gang. Ponyboy came in everyday and read Gone with the Wind to me Dally came to but only to see me. If Dally opened a book it’d be a mirical. That’s why me and Ponyboy are alike no one but us too likes movies, books, and sunsets. Dally wasn’t deep like me and Pony and Soda couldn’t sit still and like Ponyboy said Darry works too hard to do any of that stuff. There was a kid kinda like us who liked are kind of stuff but Dally liked to call him hippie and his good buddy like to jump the kid. Ponyboy sat in the chair next to me reading the book we had started in the church before it caught on fire which got me burned and left me in my current state. I wasn’t as bad any more and Dally was ok though the doctor’s said I may not ever walk again. Dally sat in the corner watching me and I smiled at him and he smiled back a little and said “ you good Johnnycake?” “Yea Dally.” “ You’ll be back on your feet in no time.” “ Yea I’m just happy to be alive.” “ I knew you’d be ok Johnnycake God don’t kill heroes like us.” “ Heroes” I muttered thinking about the term. “ Yea were heroes Johnny and if they don’t kill heroes they don’t throw them in jail either” Ponyboy says. “ Thanks Ponyboy.” He smiles a little and wisps his blonde hair back and I hear him say “ I guess we cut our hair for nothing huh Johnny?” “ Yea our tuff tuff hair.” He chuckles and Dally says “No one will be laughing at you Johnny boy they’ll all be laughing at Blondie here” Dally says throwing his arm around Ponyboy’s neck and giving him a noogie. I laugh and say “ maybe I should have dyed my hair blonde so we could be made fun of together.” “ Na Johnny it’s ok as long as Dally doesn’t noogie me again the rumble really mixed up my head.” I smile and say “ the doctor’s say I can go in about a week.” “ That’s good Johnny” Dally says. “ Hey Dally that Cherry Valance asked me out ya know.” “ That’s tuff.” “ Yea she’s nice for a soc.” “ Oh don’t call them that their not all mean” I moan. “ Ok ok Johnny boy.”

Johnny is doing fine and when he comes out I tell ya he’ll have some tuff scars though if you thought he was timid before the whole incident he sure is gonna be scared now. Though now that I know what its like to almost lose the thing that I love more than anything else. He’s like my little brother and he’s really my only family unless you count my father but he don’t give a damn about me. Silvia has kept hanging on me the entire week saying she’s sorry but she’s just a sniving little woman. She only wants me back because she saw me in the paper. Me and Ponyboy visit Johnny a lot but we mostly hang around Soda and Steve now but I know better that Pony wishes that it was just me, him, and Soda. If it weren’t for Johnny I would kill myself so I guess its not the best life. I think I’ll feel better once Johnny’s out of the hospital. Ponyboy seems to long for him too for him too because it seems as if the weeks of being in that church alone with Johnny makes them feel like brothers like me and Johnny feel for each other. I know he worships the ground I walk on and not only is Johnny timid Pony is too. Two bit doesn’t sneak up on him anymore cause he turns around and smacks two bit in the face unintentionaly of course. Me and Pony walk through the lot and he gets lost in his moments of him and Johnny before. He has a hard time breathing when he passes the park and automatically says “ umm….can we go to the diner instead.” I look at him and then at the fountain the ground near it is still stained with blood and I see the monkey bars that Johnny said they were sitting on when that blue mustang pulled up. There’s no doubt in my mind that it will stick in our memory for the rest of are lives no matter how much time passes.

“Yeah?” He says, looking over at you.
“I found this in the attic.” You say, tossing it over to him.
It was his baby blanket, a dark blue color.
He looks at it wide eyed, just taking in the memories.
“What about this?” He asks, still looking at the blanket.
“Well I thought our baby would like it.”
“Planning ahead huh?” He grins.
“Only 8 eight months ahead.” You smile.
He looks up at you in surprise.
“You’re pregnant?” He asks, standing up from the couch to face you.
You just smile.
He scoops you up into a giant hug.
How were you going to tell him you got laid off?
Y’all needed money… You had just bought a house, and money was short.
So of course you had to lose your job.
You walking into your house, and flop onto the couch. You were pretty much done with all the stress.
Darry walked out of the bathroom, towel around his waist.
“What’s up babe?” He said, chuckling at the sight of you sprawled on the couch.
“I got laid off.” You mumble.
He’s silent for a second, taking this in. “I’ll pick up another shift.” He says.
“No, no.. You don’t have to…” You start.
“No.. I’d make more money than you would. It’s gonna be fine I promise.”
You turn around to see your boyfriend Steve grinning wildly, another snowball in hand.
“It’s so on,” you laugh, as you lean down to scoop the snow.
You are hit with another snowball, right in the shoulder. You fire back, hitting him in the face.
Instead of picking up snow to make another snowball, he sprints towards you.
And tackles you into the snow.
“Oww Steve!” You laughed.
“It was needed.” He joked back.
You were lying on your backs in the snow, looking up at the stars.
You start to shiver.
He looks over at you. “Babe, are you cold?”
“Yeah.” You nod your head, teeth chattering.
He scoots closer to you, and wraps his arms around you. “Warmer?”
“Yeah,” you smile.
He picks up the naked two year old and plops him into the bath. “There. Your in. Stay in.”
You were holding baby Stephanie, who would not stop crying. Why did you and Dally even agree to watch Johnny’s kids? This wasn’t a great experience.
“Hey, (Y/N), look at this,” Dally grins.
You look in the bathroom to see Josh, sitting in the tub, his hair greased back, smiling like a maniac.
You can’t help but burst out laughing, only making the baby cry more.
“Stephie, shut the hell up!” Josh says from the tub.
“Josh!” You scold. You glare at Dally.
“It wasn’t me!” Dally says.
“Yeah right.” You say, rolling your eyes.
“In my opinion, we are the greatest babysitters ever.” Dally said, smiling.
“Hey,” Dally whispers in your ear.
“Hey,”you whisper back.
“You’re parents home?”
“Yeah, they’re asleep.”
“So nothing fun?”
“Dally, you pig.” You laugh.
“Nah, I love just cuddling with you.” He says, snuggling closer to your body.
You’re silent for awhile, feeling the heat of his body.
“I love you.” You whisper.
“Not as much as I love you.” He squeezes you.
“Are you crying?” You ask as he walks in.
“No.” He mutters, wiping his eyes on his sleeve.
“Yes you are, you big softie,” Ponyboy grins.
“Is she all ok?” Soda asks, still sniffling.
“Yes, she’s in perfect condition.” The doctor grins. ” 6 pounds, 9 ounces. You want to hold her?” He asks Soda.
Soda just nods his head. The doctor hands him the baby.
(OK INSERT SODA BABY IMAGINE HERE TO GET SODA FEELINGS)
Soda just smiles.
“Hey, Grace.” He says softly. “Hey.”
“She looks like you.” Ponyboy says to you as he looks over Soda’s shoulder at his niece.
“Pretty, just like her mom.” Soda glances at you.
I had it all ready.
My parents wouldn’t care.
It would be a blessing for me to be gone.
I take a deep breath and take a final look in the mirror. My dark skin. Even darker eyes. The black hair I could never keep back. The scar on my cheek.
I run a hand through my hair, exhale, and open the mirror to see the different bottles of pills glaring at me; tempting me.
It would hurt the least. Less than the blade. But it might take longer. The rope would be quicker.
I reach for a bottle, twist the cap, and pour a few pills in my hand. I take another bottle and do the same.
I take a look at the drugs in my hand. I sigh, tilt my head back, and drop the pills in my mouth.
“JOHNNY!” I heard my drunk mother screech.
I spit the pills back into my hands.
I wouldn’t do this in front of my mother. Even though she was awful, she still is my mom. Im still her son.

“Oh?” You ask.
“Yeah… Uh you know.” He shrugs.
“I don’t know,” you laugh.
“You’ll see,” he grins.
You walk into his room, and your jaw drops.
Your panties were all on his floor.
“Oh my god Dally!” You say.
“You obviously didn’t get the message.” He says laughing.
You look closer at the piles of your underwear. It spells out “PROM?”
“Oh my god,” you laugh.
“Is that a yes?” He grins.
“Yes!” You say still laughing.
“I just need you to help me out with something…”
“What?” You ask.
“I’m missing the dot under the question mark…”
