We got into Dally's csr. No wait, this is Buck's T-Bird. Why was Dally driving this thing? We drove to the Dairy Queen. While on the way there, Dally almost drove into a ton of people. On purpose, of course. We ordered four bbq rib sandwiches, four cokes, four fries, and three fudge sundaes. The sundaes were for Johnny, Pony, and I. "Man, I thought I was hungry. Hey, slow down, I gotta lot of cash.", Dally said. We just started to eat a little faster. This was the first time in five days that I ate some good food. "Hey, I didn't tell you we got a spy.", Dally said, out of the blue. "A spy, who?", Johnny asked. "That red head I was hitting on. Cherry, uh, Cherry Valence." I almost dropped my sandwich on the car floor. "Cherry Valence?", I said, a little louder than I intended. "Ya.", Dally continued, "She drove over to the lot in her little Sting Ray and and I gotta tell ya, that takes a lot of guts. But she said she would spy for us. She said that she would testify that the Socs were drunk and you fought back strictly on defense. Oh, that reminds me. We're havin' a rumble tommorow night, grease against Soc." "Ya, that reminds me", Johnny started saying slowly, "we're going back to turn ourselves in." I knew this was coming. We agreed a couple nights ago that when Dally came we were gonna tell him. Dally's face was forming into an angry frown. "I got a good chance of being let off easy. It was self defense, you just said. These two and Cherry can testify to that. And we won't say that you helped us. We'll give you back the gun and you won't get into any trouble Dal'." , Johnny explained. He started to slink down in his seat. I was about to crawl under the seat. I got real afraid of Dally when he gets mad. "I get you a hideout and now you wanna bail. Unbelievable.", Dally growled at us while driving back to the church. But boy did we get the surprise of our life when we got there. The chuch was on fire! Dally drove up to the church and Pony jumped out of the car. "Hey, get back here!", Dally yelled at Pony. I had to go after him to make sure he didn't kill himself. With Ponyboy, anything is possible. Just then screaming was coming from inside the church. There were some school children in there! Pony and I ran up to the church and found Johnny right behind us. Johnny threw a huge rock threw the window and we crawled in. When we were inside all you could see was red and orange and black. I remembered Ponyboy wondering what it was like inside a burning ember. Now he knows. We went to the back of the church and found the children there. There was five kids in total. All of a sudden I saw a hand punch threw a window. It was Dally. "Here take these kids.", Johnny yelled, handing him one of them. "Ouch!", Ponyboy yelled. I looked over at him. One of the girls bit him. Then I looked at Johnny. He was smiling and looked like he was having the time of his life. It figured, he loves helping other people. He's just that kind of person he is. After we got all the kids out Dally started pulling us out the window. When I got pulled out, I gasped for the fresh air. I was coughing wildly and the world was spinning around me. I looked at Pony. He was unconscious. Then there was a scream from inside. I thought we got all the kids out. Then I realized it was Johnny. Dally jumped threw that window so fast, it was as if he were a superhero. Then the roof collapsed. So did I. I woke up in a vehicle with the sounds of sirens ringing through my ears. I was to dizzy to realize where I was. That was until I realized that Ponyboy was on a strecher. I flew up just to knock over the oxygen tank that was right beside me. I realized that I was breathing through that. I ripped the mask off my face and stared at Ponyboy. "He's alright. He should be awake in a few minutes." I jumped at the sound of someone's voice. Then right across from me a man leaned forward out of the shadows. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I'm Jerry.", the man said. "Hi.", I managed to say. After about five minutes, which felt more like five hours, Pony finally came to. "Where, where am I?", he asked. I couldn't answer because the man driving the ambulance insisted that I put the mask back on. "You're on your way to the hospital.", Jerry answered for me. Pony just layed there. When we got to the hospital Pony and I were just checked out and were told we could go home. I was afraid to be back in town. There were a bunch of cops crawling around the hospital. "Ponyboy and Carli Curtis?", a nurse came up and asked us. "Yes?", Pony replied. "You have visitors." Visitors? Pony flew out of his chair. I followed his gaze. I flew out of my chair too. It was Sodapop! We jumped into his waiting arms. "Look at you hair.", Soda said. I didn't care right now. I was glad to see him. I started to see someone out of the corner of my eye. I stepped back from Soda and saw Darry standing there, that same helpless look on his face. But something seemed different now. When I realized it I thought back to Soda's letter. "You know he loves you guys." Darry was crying. He did care about us. Pony and I ran into Darry's arms. We all started bawling. "I thought we lost you two like we did Mom and Dad.", Darry said. So did I.
