She’s Home
Give me your heart, beloved.
Give me your hand, my true friend.
With each passing day I grow more fond;
With each passing day, our small portion of love takes its place in the truth of time.
With the years that we have been given,
Let us grow deeply into life so that we may love all the more.

It was late afternoon, the sun on its way down. Fairly quiet by the usual late summer’s day standards.
This was the nearest strip of beach they could get away to. She just wanted to go somewhere far and quiet, but still near enough DC that they could drive back in a few hours if need be.
She was taking pleasure in the late summer breeze. Looking out at the waves lapping at her toes. She cannot remember when was the last time she felt peace like this.
She knew it was he coming up from behind her, her senses going haywire and her heartbeat like drums beating. He could always provoke that kind of feelings on her, not that she would admit it in front of him.
"Hey, enjoying the view?"
"It is beautiful, is it not? The colors. Orange, red, green and blue all mixed up, like nature is putting on a show for us to appreciate. I have not witness the setting of the sun in quite a long time. I forget how spectacular it really is."
"Greatest show on earth" he easily agreed.
"Would you like take a walk with me? It is still warm enough,” she said with a lovely smile.
"Anywhere you wanna go sweet cheeks" he replied easily returning her smile.
"I will never really escape that nickname.." as she swatted his arms playfully.
"I say it with love" his smile reaching his eyes.
They stared at each other for a moment, then both burst out laughing.
"The last time you said that, it was when .." she couldn't finish what she was saying as she was nearly half-bent from laughing.
"You turned my teeth blue! It took me 2 dentist visits to get rid off it!" Both of them were shaking with mirth remembering that hilarious day.
This feels so good. To laugh so freely, to be rid of the cares of this world if only for today.
They walked side-by-side, shoulders touching, bare feet on the sand. Ziva chuckling every time as the onslaught of waves hit her ankles and jumps when the hem of her maxi sundress gets wet.
Tony was wise enough to wear board shorts.
"You should have worn shorts, those really nice short ones that would show off your sexy butt and long .. "
Tony stopped abruptly, his mouth running away with his vivid imagination. Horrors, did he just ruin the mood? Damned his filthy mind and motor mouth.
But intead, Ziva stepped forward so close to him that their chests were touching and smiled coyly.
"I happen to have a white real short one somewhere in my bag, and if you're a good boy, I might just indulge that fantasy of yours tomorrow." she replied saucily.
Tony’s grin went as wide as it would go.
"Now shall we continue our walk?” I want to reach that beach shack at the end before it gets dark." She continued.
She reaches for his hand, gently interlacing her fingers among his.
Eyes locked at each other, like they always do.
And just like the last time they held hands, it feels natural, like they have done this a thousand times.
She's feels safe and cherished in his warm touch.
She feels love.
Like a portion of her soul has entwined with his.
And at this moment she now truly understands what it feels like to be home.
