Ok, so with the finale airing tomorrow, I figured I would give my opinion on this season.
Total Drama All Stars was not as good as I expected it to be. I thought TDAS would be up there with TDI now that we would see the Original Cast back. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I will start with the worst things about this season.
5. Character Development
This is always something fans want is development. I think we got a bit of that from the new cast, especially with Mike. But the old cast was just left out to rot.
-Courtney had development going, but the writers decided to go back to TDA Courtney.
-Gwen's character was hit hard, at one point nice to boyfriend stealer to redeemer. As much as I'm happy Duncan and Gwen broke up, it really makes no sense now that Courtney and Gwen's friendship was thrown in the trash.
-Alejandro turned from strategic and daring to wimpy and boring. The boring really kicked in after Heather's elimiantion.
-Duncan had the absolute worst development. Going from the jerk we all know to proving he is not a sweetheart and not even focusing on the game.
4. The lack of episodes
It made TDAS feel very rushed. Plots had to be wrapped up quicker than normal compared to 26 episodes, where they could've expanded on the plots. The elimiantion ceremonies go from the normal process to not even going to the bonfire and just skipping to the flush (Sundae Muddy Sundae/The Bold and the Bootyful).
3. Lack of Cameos
Imagine how happy you were when you saw Izzy appear in Suckers Punched, only to watch the crap get beat out of her by Mal. And that was really the only cameo. Ezekiel in Episodes 1 and 9, but those were boring since he is STILL Zombie Zeke.
2. Lindsay's Early Elimination
I was so bummed when Lindsay was eliminated first. If someone would've told me during the Summer that Lindsay was going first, I would've laughed at them. She was expected to be a favorite to win and they just tossed her aside. I could see her building some potential plot with the Hamsters, maybe a friendship with Sierra and Zoey.
1. Sundae Muddy Sundae
The #1 worst moment of TDAS was Episode 11: Sundae Muddy Sundae. What an absolute disaster it was. It ruined 2 of the biggest plots of this season (Courtney and Gwen friendship as well as Courtney and Scott relationship for the moment), they screwed up with Courtney saying it's the furthest she's made it and took away her strong stomach, and Chris changed the challenge at the last second. It could be biased since I like Courtney, but it was very upsetting and shocking that Total Drama would ruin 2 plots like that.
But of course, Total Drama All Stars had it's good moments. Here are my Top 5 favorite things about TDAS:
5. Love Triangle Resolved
The dreaded love triangle is finally resolved in this season. Having the girls have no interest in Duncan is good and mean it hopefully won't happen again.
4. Interaction between old and new casts
Some of the interactions were very promising
-Zoey and Gwen
-Courtney and Scott
-Cameron and Sierra
-Heather and Jo
3. Courtney and Scott
From a huge Duncney fan, I enjoyed Courtney and Scott. They are really good for each other and are hilarious, especially Scott ("Will you be my boyfriend" XD).
2. Suckers Punched
Suckers Punched was not only the best episode of TDAS, but could arguably be the best of the whole series. The battles were interesting and of course, Courtney and Gwen making up, even if it did only last 4 episodes.
1. Mike's Plot
Mike's plot was awesome this season! I am rooting for Zoey to win, but Mike was really the only one with major plot this season. It was fun to see him fight to control his own mind while also seeing Mal mess around with the cast.
Overall: 5/10
This season has so much going for it until Sundae Muddy Sundae. With the cast basically ruined, I have high hopes for Pahkitew Island.
