Dawn arrived on Universal Lines. Tower was about to wake up, and inform the engines to get to work, but he was awaken by the puffing of three engines. Tillie, Rachael, and Suzie.
Tillie: Mornin' Tower.
Tower: Hello Tillie. Good to see you, and the others bright, and early.
Rachael: We don't want our friends being late.
Suzie: *Couples onto Farnsworth's express. She slips as she moves the five car train to the station platform*
Sid: *Yawns as he stops next to Tower* You three need a hand with anything?
Tillie: Nope, you can go ahead with that milk train.
Sid: Alright, thank you.
While Sid went to drop off the milk cars in a different part of Owensville, the three engines continued their shunting duties.
Rachael: *Wheelslips as she isn't able to move two boxcars*
Tillie: Here. *Couples onto Rachael* If we can't move these, we'll do it one at a time. *Grunts*
Rachael: *Moving the two boxcars* Thank you.
Suzie: *Backing up past Tower* I need a drink.
Tower: You sure do struggle with those cars.
Suzie: It's hard work when you only have two drive wheels, but we manage to pull through. *Continues going backwards to the refueling area*
Tower: Maybe, but perhaps another switcher is required.
In a couple of days, Tower spoke to all the engines.
Tower: I decided to get a new engine to help out with switching duties.
Sid: Another switcher?
Rachael: Is it another steam engine?
Tower: Yeah. Her name's Carina.
Suzie: It better not be-
Carina: *Blows her whistle as she stops next to Tower* It is.
Rachael: No, no, no!!
Pete: What's wrong?
Carina: She's upset, because she knows that I'll be replacing her, and her weak blue friend.
Tower: Whoa, whoa, whoa! No one's getting replaced. You're here to help out, not antagonize. If I see you antagonize the other engines, I'll immediately send you back to Thunder Bay.
Carina: Fine. At least I have some work out on the mainline.
Tower: Not quite yet. You're helping with shunting.
Carina: Mmm.
Her first assignment did involve going to St. David's Station with three boxcars. She was taking supplies to repair the cranes. When Carina approached the cliff however, she didn't realize a sharp bend.
Carina: Whoa! *Leaning on two wheels, but gets her left side back on the tracks safely* Phew that was close. For a second I thought I was- *Spots a rockslide* Going off!!! *Applies the brakes*
She came to a stop, but not before hitting the rocks. Her pilot wheels were hanging over the edge.
Carina: *Closes her eyes as she keeps her brakes on*
Tower: *Talking on the phone* Yes. I understand. Thanks for telling me. *Hangs up* Rachael! Suzie!!
Rachael: *Arrives with Suzie* Yes Tower?
Tower: Carina's stuck on the cliff. Help her before she falls to her doom.
Suzie: Right away. *Follows Rachael out of the yards* She better be thankful for this rescue.
Rachael: I don't see why she wouldn't.
Luckily, because Carina kept her brakes on, she was still on the rails. She probably could have moved by herself, but she was too afraid.
Rachael: *Blows her whistle twice as she arrives with Suzie* Carina, we're here!
Carina: Oh thank goodness! Please help!
Suzie: No problem!
The two engines coupled to the rear of Carina's train, and tried to pull her backwards, but their wheels slipped without moving at all.
Rachael: Did you put the brakes off?
Carina: No! I'm too afraid to take them off.
Suzie: You need to, otherwise we can't move.
Rachael: Did you try moving back by yourself?
Carina: No..The truth is....I'm afraid of heights. I really don't want to risk falling off this cliff.
Rachael: Carina, listen to me. You're not falling down there. The three of us are going to move these cars together.
Suzie: But you have to put your brakes off. Or we can't go anywhere.
Carina: I understand. Here I go. *Takes a deep breath*
Once the brakes were released, the three engines slowly moved backwards, away from the rockslide. All of Carina's wheels were safely back on track.
Carina: Thanks again. I'll never call you weak, or worthless ever again.
Suzie: Just what I like to hear.
Carina: And if you ever need a hand with your switching assignments, I'll always be there for you.
Rachael: Much obliged. For now, let's go back down to Owensville.
The three engines went back down the mountain to inform Tower of the rockslide, and get the line clear for Carina to deliver her cars. For the first time ever since that accident, Carina started being nice to the two 2-2-2's.
