I woke up drenched in sweat. It was the middle of the night. I could see the moon out of my window.
I found it beautiful most days but today it terrified me. This dream I had was... Interesting, In a very-scary-oh-my-goodness-I'm-going-to-pee-my-pants sort of way. I was on a cliff, I don't know what I was doing. My head was on my knees and tears were streaming down my cheeks. I was actually crying. I had never once cried in my whole (now four) years of existence.
I vaguely remember a hand. A warm brown hand, wiping my tears away. A breeze had caught on the cliff and it whispered my imprint. A voice. It whispered softly in my ear. I looked up and the moon was a strange color. A reddish-orange. It was frightening. Now, in the dark. I felt afraid. I loved the night. But my annoying half-human self screamed for rest.
My family went out somewhere, I never actually found out. Aunt Alice left Jacob as my babysitter. I loved Jacob and all but it was really annoying when he got overprotective of me. I left my room and knocked on his door. He was living with us now, sadly Billy had passed away. I was fond of Jacob's father, he was like my own father too. Except, he was old and didn't look like a seventeen year old that could read minds. Since he had nowhere to go, and for some reason couldn't leave me, Daddy let him stay with us. He wouldn't get up so I walked in.
"Nessie?" He yawed sleepily. "What is it?"
"Jake I had a bad dream" I whimpered. He pulled me into his arms.
"What was it about?" He questioned. I replayed the small dream to him. He furrowed his eyebrows.
"I don't see anything scary about that." He said.
"I don't either when I actually think about it." I whispered. "But it scared me."
"Well why don’t you stay here." Jake suggested. "Until your parents come."
"Okay." I put my elbow up so I could look at him. "Goodnight Jake."
When I looked at his face, he wore the most strangest expression. His eyebrows pushed together in frustration, his eyes were sad, yet impatient. He smiled at me sweetly.
"Goodnight Ness. I love you." He pressed his lips on my forehead. This was normal. He kissed me goodnight everyday. His lips lingered on my face. Okay, this was not normal. His behavior was strange today. It made me nervous. Yet a good kind of nervousness that made me want to scream. I kind of liked it. I rested my head against his shoulder. The warmth felt nice.
"Sweet Dreams." Jake whispered. His sweet breath washed over my face. The last thing I felt was his lips on my face once again.
