CHAPTER FIVE- The Volturi

I had met the Volturi twice in 90 years. That doesn’t happen to most vampires. The first was brutal. I don’t even know how it started but for some peculiar reason, they thought I had harmed one of the Volturi guards, as his disappearance occurred the same time I was turned. Carlisle was out hunting. Let me get one thing straight. The Volturi aren’t just ‘special’ vampires. They are vampire royalty, the guardians of the vampires, if you will. So basically, you don’t piss them off. You don’t break any laws or rules, or harm them in any way. So I was surprised that for me supposedly killing one of their guards, they didn’t send one of the three ‘royals’. But they still sent 10 guards. I was a newborn so it was easy for me to take them down. I was left with bruises (I know, newborns get tons of power and strength, but if they get hurt or injured, they actually get hurt or injured). I even have a scar of where one of them bit me. Luckily, Carlisle came back from hunting, just in time to suck out the venom. The second time, Emmett and Jasper were with me and Carlisle, but Jasper was out hunting. That time, they actually sent the three ‘kings’, Caius, Marcus and Aro. With Carlisle there, they talked instead of attacked, and continuously asked me and Emmett to join them because of our extraordinary powers. We declined each and every time, and they all left without a fight. And all was forgiven. Well, so they say. I know they are still mad at me for killing 10 of their men, despite what they’ve told us. But I have two strikes against my name, and that means, one more and I’m out.
So, although Emmett had never fought with anyone from the Volturi, he knew how flustered they made me. And he was scared for me.
"Sis, relax. They probably won’t come", he comforted.
"Emmett, if they do, I’m in trouble. And I’m not even scared of dying", I told him. F.Y.I. three ways to kill us;
1.Burn us alive
2.Cut off our heads (gory stuff, right?)
3.Pray for a miracle
"I mean, sure, I’m a little scared of dying, but it’s not just that. Emmett, ", I said, as I looked deep into my older brothers eyes.
"I don’t care if I get killed a thousand times, but I refuse to let my immortal life end at the hands of the Volturi". I didn’t even know why I really hated them that much. I mean, my neck looks ugly in the morning before I apply concealer over the scar, but other than that, I simply didn’t like them. Sure, they help control things, but no one has the right to take authority over everyone.
"Well, I’m starting school tomorrow. I need to find out more about Edward", I informed.
"I think I should come with you", he said.
"Yeah, me too", added another voice. I turned to see Jasper enter the room.
"Jasper, are you sure? What about your control...? Can you handle a room full of 20 kids for 6 hours a day?", I asked. I said we were vegetarians but Jasper has taster human blood. Me, Carlisle and Emmett have not. Carlisle lived on rats when he was first turned and me and Emmett had Carlisle’s guidance. But Jasper was the last to join our family. When he came to us, he had red eyes and human blood running through his veins. We have taught him to live like us but he still can’t control himself very well.
"If it’s for you I can", he said. I know Carlisle intended Emmett or Jasper to be my other half but it was never like that. They were my brothers and I was their sister. Carlisle wasn’t disappointed but he wasn’t happy. He didn’t want me to be alone as he had.
"Thanks guys. You know you’re the best brothers in the world, right?" I whispered.
"We know", replied Emmett with a huge grin. And he pulled me into a hug, so I pulled Jasper.
"Sorry to interrupt the family hug, but we have an emergency. Theres others that live here. Today at the hospital..", Carlisle started.
"We know. I ran into a ‘human’ named Edward today and he was inhumanly cold, so we’re all starting high school tomorrow to find out more about him", I informed him.
"Well, that means theres at least three of them because today at the hospital...", started Carlisle, once again being interrupted by Emmett.
"A lady ran in with her daughter, and they were carrying a lady who had been lying in an alley, bleeding to death after someone shot her, and the lady, whose name is Esme, and her daughter, Alice, heard her when they passed the alley so they brought her straight to the hospital, but as the injured lady was being put on a stretch, Carlisle shook hands with Esme and her grip was so strong that it would have broken a human hand. Then her daughter just disappeared, as fast as lightning".
"Okay, is this ‘Interrupt Carlisle Day’?", asked Carlisle. We all chuckled under our breathes, and went upstairs to get ready for school.
