Here's how I wanted to become a Veg. It started when I was 12 yrs. old. One day I was wondering about vegetarianism. What it was, what was the reason, etc. So I looked up what it was and I found out that a diet was not only something to lose weight, but that it was something that meant what you ate (or something like that) a lifestyle. I looked up more and found out that vegetarians ate tofu, which was a soy product made out of soybeans. I found some words that I wasn't familiar with: Vegan, Fruitarian, and Pescetarian. I looked up these words and found out what each of these meant. A Vegan was a vegetarian that didn't eat, drink, own, or wear anything from animals. A Fruitarian was a vegetarian that only ate fruit or ate what was considered a fruit. A Pescetarian was said to be a vegetarian that ate fish but not meat (which gave me the idea that vegetarians could eat fish, stupid definition). After a little more research I decided to become a vegetarian. I got started right away, cutting meat out of my diet, and feeling a lot better then I used to. But then a problem occurred. On the 3rd or 4th day of me becoming vegetarian my dad cooked hotdogs for dinner. I, as any other veg, was going to make a salad for myself to eat instead. My dad noticed I was getting into the fridge and said that if I wanted something that wasn't on the table that he could get it for me. I said something to him (I forgot what I said) and he told me that I was going to eat a hotdog whether I liked it or not. I was kind of upset with him and ate a cheesy hotdog. Then another day my dad said something at dinner how I wasn't a vegetarian, saying that I could live with a different family, saying I was an omnivore. At that point I wanted to say this to him: "I do not have to live with a different family in order to become a vegetarian. I am your child and I think I can decide what I want to eat and what I don't. My diet doesn't affect yours so you should have no right to be against me for wanting to be veg." But I didn't say anything knowing that it would start an argument between me and my dad. One night my older sister Jennifer told me that if I was going to be vegetarian that I would need to find a way to earn money so that way I would be able to buy my own tofu. She said that mom and dad weren't going to pay for my tofu. My mom told me that when I move out of the house that I could be a vegetarian then (which is a long time to wait to be veg). So now I am 14 almost 15 and I am still waiting to be veg. I refuse to eat pizza that has meat, seafood, bugs or insects on it. I am still waiting and am becoming more tempted to being veg. Right now I am wanting to get into an animal rights group and hope to get it accepted by my parents. I still remember that my spirit animal is a bunny and that it is telling me to be an herbivore as well. I am happy that I chose a veg diet and I am happy that my spirit animal is a bunny. Vegs Forever and Ever! :)

Hey! This is my first article on here and I thought I would make it count. You see I'm only 14 and I've been a vegetarian for a year now. So I thought i'd reach out to those looking to become vegetarian and just need some help.
My first tip would be to look up the video,"Meet your Meat." This video had a strong influence on me when I first started to think about becoming vegetarian. It showed the horrible ways of slaughter and the ways these animals become a hotdog on your plate. And yes it went into the slaughter house!!!! It made me cry and showed me that we were just murdering an animal...
