A rumbling sounded off in the distance. Two cats, one rock brown and one a pale gray, stood on the edge of SkyClan territory, their pelts bristling with fear.
"What is that?" the rock brown tom looked to the pale tabby, an ear flicking.
"I don't know. It's not thunder, that's for sure." Jayflight responded, lowering his head, the fierce wind blowing his fur back.
Sudden shrieks drew both cats' attention to the direction of camp. Plumes of dark smoke billowed up from the moor, turning the sky to ash. The blueness was gone, replaced with smoky blackness. For the first time, Gorgestream noticed that the sun was nowhere to be seen.
"The camp!" Gorgestream gasped.
"Go! Run back, but be careful!" Jayflight yowled and took off, Gorgestream on his heels. Both cats skidded into camp, and were overtaken by a putrid scent that set their noses on fire.
Gorgestream flattened himself to the bushes that lined the camp, his tail lashing. He watched as Jayflight hurled himself into the fray, yowling at cats to get out. A pale figure pushed past him, and he whirled around and called for the cat to come back.
"Heatherpelt, what's going on?"
"Two-legs! They've invaded the camp. They're destroying it!" Heatherpelt screeched and disappeared into the bushes.
Gorgestream turned back and plunged into the smoking camp. Immediately his eyes were stung, nose burning. He coughed, but forced past the fleeing cats. Two Two-legs loomed in the midsts, with metal sticks and masks. He crawled towards them. One turned to look at him, and he stared back, his sky blue eyes narrowing against the wind. Then, something grabbed him his torso. He shrieked and twisted, claws unsheathing, but there was nothing he could do. The Two-leg forced something into his side, and his eyes got droopy. The other Two-leg flung him in a metal cage. His head hit the side, and everything went black.
