2024's Masters of the Universe: Revolution is a sequel to 2021's Masters of the Universe: Revelation. Revelation was received well by critics, but a lot of Masters of the Universe fans disliked the show. I had a lot of mixed feelings about the series. Revelation was split into two parts. The first part is my least favorite thing to come out of the Masters of the Universe franchise. I enjoyed the second part a lot more, but the series still had a lot of problems. However, I love the Masters of the Universe franchise, so I was cautiously excited for Revolution.

I'm happy to report that Revolution is a step in the right direction. The second part of Revelation improved some aspects, but a lot of problems were still around. Whether it's intentional or not, Revelation feels like it has made a strong effort to fix the problems of the various season.

The new, improved changes include the following:

He-Man is the main hero, and he gets a strong amount of character development.

Skeletor is the villain that has the most screentime.

Skeletor is a more multi-layered, well-developed villain.

Teela is more likable and considerate.

Evil-Lyn's true allegiance is revealed.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation ran into hate from the fans, because it had a misleading marketing campaign. It was advertised as a return to the classic adventures of He-Man battling Skeletor. However, Revelation was actually a cynical series that sidelined He-Man in favor of a version of Teela that wasn't very likable. The series had the nerve to sideline He-Man in brutal ways on two different occasions. Seeing a beloved fictional hero from my childhood lose his life was not an easy thing for me to process. I was pretty upset about what Revelation did. The second part of the season softened my feelings by having both He-Man and Skeletor get more involved in the action. However, both characters got sidelined, once again, and the writing still had some problems.

Revolution was advertised as something that focused on He-Man. However, Revelation's misleading advertising had me fear that history would repeat itself. Thankfully, He-Man actually is the main character in Revolution. Teela still plays a major role, but He-Man is still the hero. Also, Teela's negative traits from the previous season are gone, so she's able to become a more likable character.

I can't stress enough how much I love the casting of Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn. It's hard to think of anybody that's more fit to play the character. Evil-Lyn was a cool but confusing character in Revelation, because the show seemed to struggle to figure out if she was a hero or a villain. Without spoiling too much, Revolution has her decide what her role in life is.

Keith David was brought on to voice Hordak, Skeletor's mentor and boss. Keith David has been one of the best actors in Hollywood for decades. Between this series and Hazbin Hotel, he is already dominating 2024. I was impressed that they were able to have Hordak show up without sidelining Skeletor.

Like Revelation, Revolution is being split into parts that have five episodes a piece. The first part of Revolution does resolve some of the conflict. However, there's a couple of major surprises in the last scene. Without spoiling too much, some things that I wanted to happen are happening.

Revelation lacked the power of Grayskull, but Revolution has restored the uplifting, fun power that Masters of the Universe stands for.
