I don't remember how long I've been running on the open grounds. It does seem long enough. But I was determined, devoted. Up above me,I noticed the jet planes streaking through the blue-black sky. I did not care. I did,but I'm not going to pay any more attention to it than the sinking feeling of hopelessness that wrapped my mind. The grounds were filled with rocks and sharp stones. Any other day,I would have bothered to watch my way trying not to fall onto the sharp stones which threatened to tear my skin, but not today. No,not today...
There were sirens screaming faraway,in my direction and I was headed straight towards them. I really wished I had paid attention to the rocks, because I tripped on one of them, and fell to the ground on my knees with my hands stretched out...

"Ahhhh, damn",I said through gritted teeth and took a moment to examine the injury. Sure enough,my hands bore a nasty cut as I expected. I shifted my posture and sat on the ground to examine the damage the sharp stones had done to knees. I didnt even need to roll my jeans to my kness to examine the damage,asI felt my blood infintesimally soaking through my jeans. I muttered a few more curse words, and tried to get up using the upper portion of palm to steady myself. As I began to rise,I noticed a bright light flooding the ground.
No,it can't be but some part of my mind echoed it was. My worst fear. I could even hear the soft whizzing above me. The only part of my body which was failing to believe the obvious was my eyes. Slowly hesitatingly I raised my eyes to the source of brilliant light.
Momentarily,I was blinded and my eyelids fluttered fighting to keep themselves open, but once my eyes adjusted,I could make out the faint outline of the space ship above me. Yes,my worst fear indeed. I'd heard that there was no coming back if they were to take me with them.

The thought of never seeing my family,my mother and sister filled my mind, but I knew I had to do this. I had to find him. Even if it meant walking right into my grave. So,I took a deep breath and with that all the fear left me. I felt neutral at last. I saw the the bright light amplify further. Then the rocky ground over which I treaded, disappeared as the only thing which surrounded me was the bright light.A silent thought raced my mind as I wondered whether that was the last thing I ever saw...
