I don't even know what I intended this to be when I started writing it, but... Here?
His brother was in her bed. His brother had shown up on her balcony, soaked in rain water and blood, and she had helped him. His brother had instructed her as she used tweezers to pull a bullet from his shoulder. His brother had kept his voice as even and calm as possible, asking pointless questions about her life to help keep her focused as she did so, then stitched the wound shut with her sowing kit and cared to his other wounds. His brother had, with her persuasion, gone to sleep in her bed. It was now 3 AM.
His brother was in her bed.
The brunette had been trying to get the thought through her head for almost an hour, then spent another thirty minutes leaning in the doorway, staring at the sleeping man, trying to decide what she would do.
Would he leave in the morning and pretend nothing had occurred as Dane and Daemian had been forced to do as work every day? Did he know about her and Daemian?
Even know thinking his name made her feel faint. They dated off and on, and Dae had never shown any serious commitment until- No, no, no, no, no.
She could not think about that right now when his brother was in her bed.
“Why are you staring at me?”
His sudden voice made her jump.
“I-I’m not?”
“You’re not?” he opened an eye and asked slowly, as if she were a senseless child, “Are you sure?”
He was nothing like Daemian, she finally decided. He had that cocky, mocking, strong, soldier-like demeanor as opposed to Damian’s calm, calculating disposition. And God, she was forever grateful that he lacked that New Jersey accent. That would have done it for her.
Dane’s feet carried her to the bed, each slow, mechanic step at a time. Declan regarded her with cautious sky-blue eyes.
“What are you doing?” he demanded in that same serene tone that he apparently had such a liking. She climb up on the bed on her knees and moved until she was right by his side.
“Dane..” there was finally some uncertainty, but... No protest as she leaned down so that their lips met.
Declan melted right into the kiss, as if this was something they had done a hundred times before. He pushed forward against her until he was on his elbows before she felt him tense. Dane opened her eyes, though she had no memory of when they had shut.
She was close enough that she could make out little golden flecks in his irises that she had missed before. Declan’s breaths were uneven and Dane realized that the thrumming in her ears was her own heart.
She sat back on her ankles and watched him regain his breath, his good arm propping him up, and the other laid against his bandaged torso.
“What was that for?” he wondered.
“You’re taking up half my bed,” she answered, as if that were really the reason.
“I’m sorry, I-,” he started to move to get out of the bed, but Dane set a hand on his shoulder, surprising the both of them.
“No, no, it’s alright.” Declan laid back slowly until his head rested on the pillows. Only then did Dane remove her hand. He watched her as she lay down next to him and pulled the covers over the both of them.
“Dane, I-”
“Shhhhhhhhhh,” she hushed as she curled up with her back to him. Declan waited for her to say something more, but when she stayed quiet, he succumbed to the exhaustion.
Dane listened to his steady breaths, her heart beats evening out, and she slipped into a sleep beside the brother of the father of her lost child.

“Shhhhhhhhhh,” she hushed as she curled up with her back to him. Declan waited for her to say something more, but when she stayed quiet, he succumbed to the exhaustion.
