I'm sorry I've taken soo long to get this next chapter up. It's a long story, but I hope you forgive me!
I'm sorry, but here's the next one. I hope you enjoy :D
Walter had called us all in for a brief meeting to make sure we were all on the same level.
I have to be honest. I didn't really register anything he said. I just followed him with my eyes and nodded every now and then. It seemed to be working, no one told me to pay attention like they usually do when I'm not listening.
"Right, I need you all to have a good early dinner, and maybe some rest. I want you all focused on the task at hand. That is all, you may go. Kailey, can I have a word?"
Maybe it didn't work as well as what I had hoped. I should have known he would have heard my thoughts, but I suppose I didn't really care.
"I'm sorry Walter. I'm just a bit preoccupied. I'm still trying to get this control thing under raps and I'm nervous as hell." I said with a bit of a sigh at the end.
"Kailey, you out of everyone here needs to focus the most. We have all had time to deal with and control our powers, you have only known about yours for mere days."
"I know, and I'm trying, I really am. It's just so hard. I've been able to control a deer and a butterfly, a BUTTERFLY, for god sakes. How am I suppose to control a whole bunch of wild animals?"
"You will find a way Kailey. I believe in you. All of my people believe in you. You know just need to believe in yourself."
I let out a small laugh" Believe in myself, that's a bit cliché isn't it? Ok, I think I might go and practice on a bigger group. Thanks Walter. You might have just boosted my confidence."
Walter just nodded his head and walked out of the room. I was left standing there wondering where on earth I would find a group of animals large enough to control on and island, where the witches wouldn't get suspicious, when I felt a presence in the room. I turned too fast and kicked the chair, which caused me to start falling towards the ground. I chucked my hands out and closed my eyes read for impact. Except the 'impact' I felt, didn't feel like the floor. I opened my eyes and saw two arms around my waist. I looked up and saw the most beautiful green eyes.
"Ian, thanks. Sorry I was deep in thought. I didn't really notice you, by the time I did, you gave me a bit of a fright. You really should make some more noise the next time you enter a room."
He gave me that perfect smile. I let out a small gasp.
"I'm sorry. I need to work on that; How about I work on that, and you work on placing two feet neatly on the ground.?"
"I have a better idea. You kiss me, and I'll forgive you." I said with a cheeky grin on my face.
"I have a better idea." Rob was standing in the doorway, in his human form. "Why don't we go and get some more practice in before tonight. Walter said you wanted a bigger group of animals. I have the perfect bunch." He said with a huge smile as he turned and walked out into the hallway.
"I think I like your idea more." Ian said as he leaned closer.
From the hallway we both heard "Well I like my idea more, so hurry up you two love birds."
I sighed, and started to get up. Ian wouldn't let go of my waist. Instead he pulled me down further and rested me on his chest.
"Ian, he's impatient, we better go."
"Ok, come on then." Ian jumped up to fast for me to follow. He gave me his hand and pulled me right into his arms. Then he turned his head towards me and gave me a kiss. His lips were so gentle on mine. And it was just like the last time, and the time before. Magic. Unexpected. Simple and so complicated. Quiet and overwhelming. Electric and softer than warm summer rain. And over way too soon.
We walked out towards the sound of Rob rounding up the troops.
