Life was finally getting back to normal. Tuesday my mother came home from her business trip and took just me and Tanner to the movies. Wednesday Janet and Patty came over. Thursday Tanner and I went to Franky's. Friday morning was normal, so was the day. The night, not so much.
Janet couldn't sleep over so she was going to Saturday. My mom was away again. And Blair and Tanner were in the living room.
Lightning lit up my room and I shrieked. Thunder cracked in the sky just a few seconds after. I held onto my pillow and shrieked again when I heard another crack of thunder.
Me and lightning storms don't mix.
I tried to close my eyes and ignore the storm but I was afraid. I know it seems dumb, an almost seventeen year old girl afraid of lightning storms, but I couldn't help it.
Before I realized what I was doing I was running down the stairs. Lightning lit up the kitchen and I ran even faster. I came to a stop in front of the couch. Blair was half asleep watching 'Family Guy.' Tanner was already fast asleep and it was barely after midnight.
Blair looked up at me and squinted. "I thought you went to bed." He mumbled.
Lightning flashed again and I jumped, then just a few seconds later the thunder rumbled through out the house.
He smirked at me. "Your afraid?" I nodded. He shook his head. "It's only thunder."
"I want Tanner." I whimpered.
He rolled his eyes then started shaking Tanner. "Hey bro. Your sister needs you."
Tanner half opened his eyes. "You take care of it. I'm sleeping." Wow, some brother he is.
Blair sighed and looked over at me. "He's busy." The room lit up again. This time he saw the terrified look on my face. He sighed and shook his head. "I'll come put you to bed."
He stood up and walked ahead of me to the stairs. I ran to catch up with him. I hate Blair, but I hate thunderstorms more. As we made our trip down the hall th lightning seemed to be getting worse.
Before I knew it I was clinging onto him as if my life depended on it. Blair didn't seem to mind, in fact he put his arm around me.
"It's okay Kristin." He said soothingly. "Your not going to get hurt."
I looked up at him. "You don't know that."
We reached my bedroom. He opened the door for me then followed me in.
"Do you want me to stay with you untill the storm is over?" He asked.
I shook my head thinking I wouldn't be scared enough to want to be in a room with Blair. He pulled back the covers for me to get into bed. I crawled in and he tucked me in. As he turned to leave lightning flashed again, looking like veins in the sky.
"Blair!" I yelled right before the thunder cracked violently.
He ran his hand through his hair and turned around. "What?"
I hid half my face under the covers. "I changed my mind. Come back."
"The things I do for you." He mumbled as he walked over.
Rolling my eyes I moved to the other side of my bed so he could sit. "You never do anything for me."
"Well, I could just leave..." He began to turn around.
"No!" He looked at me with a pleased smirk. "I need you." I probably looked as vulnerable as I sounded.
He ran his hand through his hair again and got under the covers with me. My bed was small so we were practically on top of each other. My bare arms brushed against his chest and I noticed he was shirtless. Just one more thing to add to my perfect night.
Me and Blair alone in my room. Him shirtless and me wearing mini shorts and a cami. In the same bed.
Thunder cracked unexpectedly and I jumped. Blair put his arms around me and brought me against his chest. "It's okay Kris. It's only a little storm."
Lighting lit up the room for four or five seconds. He was looking down at me. "I'm scared."
He sighed and his warm breath hit my cheek. "I'll stay with you until it's over. Okay?"
I nodded. "I'm sorry." I mumbled. "I'm ruining your night."
He smiled at me. "This beats watching Family Guy by a long shot."
Another flash of lightning followed by a loud boom erupted from the sky. I buried my face into his chest. "I doubt it."
He began rubbing small circles on my back. "No. Your way more entertaining." I could almost hear the smirk in his voice.
I yawned and let my muscles relax. "How so?"
Just as the words left my lips a violent zap and a crash came from outside. I yelped and attached myself to Blair. Laughing he wrapped his arms around me again.
"That's how."
"Shut up." I mumbled. "It's not funny."
"Hmmm." He brushed some hair out of my eyes and smiled at me.
"Why are you smiling?" I asked him.
He shrugged. "Why aren't you?"
I rolled my eyes. "Maybe because I'm scared."
We laid like that for a while. Blair holding me close to him as I hid my face against his shirtless chest. Every time I heard thunder I would press myself against him until he said something along the lines of 'it's okay Kris. I'm here.'
I slowly started letting go of my death hold on him as the thunder started getting farther away.
He brought his head down to my ear. "The storm is over." He whispered.
I didn't want him to leave just yet. Not because I loved the feeling of being held by him, even if a little part of me wanted it, but because I was afraid the thunder might come back.
"Stay" I said quietly.
He closed his eyes and held me closer to him. "Only for a little while."
"For the record," I mumbled, "This is only because I'm afraid of lightning."
Blair chuckled. "Of course."
I closed my eyes and let out a calm relaxed breath. "Thank you by the way."
"For what?"
I shrugged. "For being here." He was silent. "I really appreciate it."
I was expecting a snide remark but instead I got a friendly "Your welcome."
We laid silently together. "Are you sure it's gone?" I asked him quietly.
He gently pulled me closer to his chest. "Go to sleep."
The last thing I remember before falling asleep was Blair tucking me in and sneaking quietly out of the room.
