My story.
“The love in this room is just stunning me with joy and hope!” I said to all of my family and friends. “And hope, and more hope!”
“Yue, it isn’t like the world without hope is going to kill you,” Mai said putting on another coat of her black lipstick. “I mean all these years I learned to deal with it. Just suck it up, and give everybody a hug. Not me, I’m clean,” She made a cross with her index fingers.
Azula stood and gave me an embracive hug. “Welcome to the family, sister! We will be glad to include you in our humble home!” She turned to Ty Lee and whispered, “Your turn.”
Ty Lee exhaled deeply and happily, “I love hugs!” Ty Lee took a hold of Mai and Zuko’s arms and flailed into a group hug with me and Azula.
The next day Uncle Iroh and I were sitting out in the courtyard sipping tea. “Oh Yue, how I love this kind of unique tea. Zuko isn’t fond of tea, he’s just too anxious to acknowledge it to me. He used cover his emotions. But seeing as he married you, it is the first time ever I have seen him joyful before. And now look at you, you’re married to him. How glad you ought to be.”
“Absolutely, Uncle Iroh.” I thought sipping the tea and setting it down, “I don’t know how I survived without Zuko.”
“I thought at first you weren’t of his nature, but when I saw the gaze in his eyes when he looked at you, I knew he thought and I thought you were his eternally. Woo!” Uncle Iroh threw his arms in the air and continued wooing.
Later on that night, Azula, Ty Lee, Zuko, Mai, Uncle Iroh and I were sitting in the family room, eating our dinner and watching TV.
“What in the world is this show?”Mai burst out, “It’s nothing like my favorite show, Goth Nation Fuse. My TV show has a cool name and I can relate to it. This show is like the representative of the meeting point between Snoresville and Are You Bored Yet Town.”
“This just so happens to be a commercial,” I sighed rolling my eyes and snuggling up to Zuko, “The show is called The World within You. It’s a heart breaking story about the hardships through all our veins.”
“That,” Mai snorted. “Is the…STUPIDEST idea for a show in history, I could have come up with a better plot for the title,” She giggled hysterically banging her head against the back of the futon.
Zuko looked at her and said, “Have you no heart? I mean at all! I know you’re like Goth and things but, Yue is too, but she has...sympathy.”
“Yeah, though you hate the world, I do too, but the world doesn’t hate you,” I sighed pathetically looking over at Mai.
“End of story!”Uncle Iroh shouted.
“All right!’’ we all said at once while rolling our eyes and slurping endlessly at our noodle dinners.
Chapter 2.
Just about all of us woke up this morning, feeling foul and sleepy. Ty Lee, Zuko and I woke up feeling great. We have no idea why, we just felt happy! Mai looked as Goth as ever since our chat with Ty Lee and Azula last night. Sleepovers with relatives are truly enjoyable! Particularly when you see them daily but have nothing to talk about! But at sleepovers you have absolutely EVERYTHING to talk about! But around 3:00 in the morning I decided to retreat to bed. And I don’t really know when I got up this morning.
“Yue! We’re out of Gothic O’s! And I found the prize!” Mai probably searched the entire house for me. “And you’ll never guess what the prize is!” she finally found me in the courtyard feeding the ducks. ‘The prize is a finger puppet casket! That opens to find a Vampire! Ooh!” she showed me it was a felt casket in which you put your finger through the outlet in the bottom of the ‘vampire’. Push up and the felt ‘lid’ opens then the vampire ‘rises’. “Isn’t it cool? Chhhhhh blah vleh vle,’’ she imitated a vampire rising, seeing the sun, and sucking the living daylights out of something.
“Yeah, of course it’s cool, yeah.” Azula sarcastically rolled her eyes passively after Mai showed everybody.
“So, Yue when did you awaken?’’ Ty Lee asked me as she opened her box of Happy Go Lucky cereal. “I mean, did you get up when I did at 4:00 a.m.? For clean-up and dusting like I asked you to? Or did you snooze in with Zuko because he is your husband forever?”
I looked at the breakfast cereal box and back at her. “My question for you is…why do you purchase your own cereal? We have got a lot!”
“We ran out of Gothic O’s!’’ Mai whined, though she was playing with the vampire and making it sob with her. “How could you?” they both asked.
Zuko started picking out four new and crisp one dollar bills and whispered, “I am making a run to the store yes, in my pajamas. No questions! Okay? Okay.” He ran off next door to the Super Market.
Chapter3
He came back with a box of Gothic O’s and my favorite cereal, Have Mercy on My Cereal! Uncle Iroh thought that Zuko did not get anything for him, but Zuko got him some of the unique tea he loves!
“Zuko, did you buy milk?” I asked him looking behind him.
“Yes dear.” He sighed pulling a carton of milk out of his red robe I gave him for his birthday. “I got whole milk and eggs. About twenty bagels lightly toasted and buttered to extreme awesomeness. Just the way you love them. Ty Lee, I got you your waffle. Lots of thick batter. Lots of waffle edges. Lots of delicious maple syrup. Lots of fruity things. Lots of fruit.”
‘‘Yes!” Mai shouted grabbing the box of Gothic O’s and opened it with her Samurai knife she carries around in her black robe I gave her for Christmas. She screamed silently as she dug into the bottom of the box to find the prize. “Triumph! Am i blessed today? I got two awesome vampire themed prizes!’’
“A samurai knife? When did you start carrying that?” Zuko asked hiding behind my chair. “Really. You could hurt me! Or somebody. Or ME!”
“Ha he. Really Z, very funny. I only use this for cutting people,” Mai explained to him. “And when I use it; I use stealth, precision, and intense skill to capture and or kill my target.”
“I use my skill of stunning and knocking out people,” Ty Lee exhaled, “I love my job.” She took her hands out of the pockets of the pink robe I gave her for Easter. I gave everyone their robes. I guess I am nice. Or I just knew that people like having their robes in their favorite color. My robes are in black too. My favorite color.
